Dear Daughter,

I have been searching for a long time. Please contact me, at least to let me know how you are. You were born 6/10/70 at George Washington University Hospital. Family & Child Services, along with the Florence Crittenten Home, arranged for your adoption and I gave you into their care just one week after you were born. Your birth name, which you probably do not know, was Dawn Christine McCain. Your birth father is black. I am white. I hold you in my heart and think of you every day.

I now live in Seattle, Washington. I have no other children and am semi-retired from working as a mediator in environmental law. I also teach a class in contemporary poetry and do volunteer work.

I would love to meet you and would make all arrangements for you to come here to Seattle or for me to visit Washington, D.C. to make this possible. My brother, your birth uncle, also lives here in Seattle and is eager to meet you. My sister, your birth aunt, lives in Florida and has two children, an adopted daughter who is close to your age, and a son. All of us are longing for news of you.
