International adoption and birthmother changed her mind

We just went through a year and half of trying to adopt a little boy from Guatemala and we just recently found out that the birthmother took him back. We are devastated and heartbroken. We met him and spent time with him on two visit trips and we are completely at a loss.

THanks for letting me share.

I'm sooo sorry you're having to deal with this. I understand a birthmother re-considering parenting her child; but to have taken that long to do so, would be totally heartbreaking to me!
As I'm sure you've found the forum for those involved with failed adoptions, it's now time to allow yourself to grieve for however long this may take. I would say though, try not to let this incident make you throw in the towel for adoption. Try to keep an open mind.
Again, you have my sympathies.....

Sincerely,

Linny
