As my grandpa used to say "just don't call me late for supper".
Anyways I just got off the phone with T. We talked a bit about his day and what he got and what they were up to tonight. At the end of the conversation I said "I love you" and all he said was "bye".  I know I shouldn't read too much into it because he's an 8 year old boy, but that hurt.

Thanks T. It hurts even though I understand you know? Anyways I was chatting with his adad when I first called and adad says jokingly "I don't know why you'd be calling today" and I could hear T in the background say "cause it's my birthday!". So that was pretty cute.

Tara, here's a big hug coming your way!
I know it hurt when T didn't reciprocate with "I love you, too." But most 8 y/o boys I've known, including my own brothers at that age, just don't like saying "mushy" things. But I know it still hurts...I've been there myself with my own son. I'm so glad you were able to talk with T on his birthday. And I know it meant a lot to him, too. Good thoughts coming your way...
