Unhappy Help!

I am having trouble finding a time and place to discus my situation. My family is not terribly receptive and I dont want to bore my husband by always bringing it up. I live in alaska and i havent yet found any resources to help me out. I guess i should also explain my situation......i am a bmom to Charlotte born a year and a half ago. It was a fast placement, i chose the family and went home to think about it, the next day she was born. I guess i am wondering if there are councling groups and things of that nature? I love this site, but like this generation, i am an instant gratification kinda girl

Thanks all
Jessie

Jesse,

I am a birthmom, have been for 25 years, none of which have been easy. No matter the time that passes, there has always been this horrible feeling of loss for me.

It does get more acceptable and easier to deal with in time, and we do go on because we have to. We marry, have other children, find joy in between our memories, but there are the birthdays that will somehow come to call. That seems to be the hardest for some birthmoms.

Yes, there is counseling for grief, for loss and some places do specialize in adoption related issues. I would suggest starting in your local yellow pages. Counseling does and will help. Just being able to talk to someone outloud about it does wonders.

There are other places you can go for support as well and I can give you that information if you want it. Just send me a private message and I will put a list together for you.

You are not alone, there are many of us out here but unfortunately this is a very difficult process that each must endure in their own way.

I am sorry for your loss and pain...you will be in my thoughts.

Love
