Online Resources for Developing your Portfolio/ Scrapbook?

I can't find any help, other than a few small articles about developing your scrapbook/ family profile book (ie the agency wants 10 pages with pics etc.) --I'd love to see some examples, suggestions etc.

Hi & Welcome to the Lifebook and Scrapbook section (we moved your post over ;-) )

You can see some page ideas here:

Digital Scrapbooking - Our Nursery

http://www.rmcsquared.net/adoption/profilebook.pdf

You can also choose to create the portfolio with paper or electronically.

If you are looking at paper you can find resources at a local scrapbook store or craft store such as Michaels, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, etc

If you are looking to create electronically my personal favorite program is Scrapbook Max www.scrapbookmax.com , but there are many other programs available too.

For printing you can check with Kinkos or you local printer. If you are looking for better quality prints you can check out the on-line developing places such as winkflash.com and snapfish.com.

If you are looking to publish as a 'book' you will find it is pretty costly. I recommend thinking 'outside' of the box. Good color copies in an 8 1/2 x 11 size slipped into photo sheet protectors, and presentation folders (both available at your office supply store, Staples, Office Max) can look quite nice, especially if you spend time on the content.

Oh - and a recommendation I have seen ( in this thread Profile scrapbook to give to birthmothers )

Be honest, be personally creative and be yourself. Also, if you read what I wrote above regarding your terminology choices, if you REFER to a woman AS a Mother, your profile IS going to stand out. Unfortunately, not enough people DO treat these women AS Mothers so when someone does, it is a big attention grabber.

Thanks! I didn't see this area!

I have done a lot of scrapbooking, but I am just trying to get my head around the logistics and 'marketing' (for lack of a better word) for this portfolio, and doing it in a way that will be effective when copied (vs. 3-d on a page etc.).
This is a great place to start!

The switch from 3d to copies can be tough.

Another option - since you are familar with scrapbook techniques. Design your pages so they are color copies - but allow for a small amount of 3d embellishment to be added here and there - like small punches or punch art.

snapfish & some of the other online photo sharing places, offer a package to make a booklet kind of thing. I've seen a few & they are pretty good.
