When to start a lifebook?
Hi,
We are relatively new to the process and our adoption journey is just beginning. We have been presented to a number of pbmoms by our agency, and are waiting to be matched. I wondered when is too soon so start a lifebook? I originally thought I wouldn't start until after our baby was born and home with us. But as we're going through the ups and downs of the adoption whirlwind, things are happening that I feel like I might want to share with our child whenever he/she comes along. I thought about including our dear birthmother letter, our A-parent profile, and some journaling about the way we are feeling right now during the wait. I thought it might be nice to share some of the experience before they were born... how hard the wait was, how anxious we were to finally be matched, things we talked about with their birthmom, and waiting for them to be born. What do you think? Am I jumping the gun a bit? Should I wait to be matched at least, or can I just dive right in now? Thanks for any suggestions Kelli

If it were me I would start gathering your info. I wouldn't 'make' the actual book till the child was placed with me, but there is plenty of supply gathering and take time to sit down and journal your toughts and progress.
If you find yourself with more time, consider scrapping some of your 'before' adoption couple/family photos ( you certainly won't have the time once you have the beautiful baby photos!) Best wishes! Diane
