I honestly don't know much about the agencies (I pplaced 36 years ago), but I'd run the other the way from this one! I urge you not to sign those papers before you check out some other agencies. Again, I have no information, but there are agencies run by churches that I HOPE would be more ethical. (I know, it's no guarantee!) Perhaps other bparents could PM you with agencies that they were pleased with.

I agree with you n the hysterectomy. I was 40 and suffered a long time with constant bleeding, severe anemia, tons of different treatments.
I would ask about an ablation. I actually have several friends that have had them and have never felt better. My sister has a blood clotting disorder and is on blood thinners. Her periods drain her. He doc recommend an ablation, but she has insurance problems. |

I've had an ablation and am headed towards a hysterectomy, probably within the next year, I'm 29. I would definitely recommend an ablation before anything else. It worked great for me for about a year, but I have many problems, pain being the biggest one since the ablation.
If they leave the ovaries you won't need to worry about hormone issues. Good luck!

Wow---what crap! It's never illegal for a bparent to change her mind, right up until the minute that adoption is finalized. And nobody can make anything final and legal until after the baby is born. Doesn't anybody regulate these agencies? What's criminal here are the lies they're telling! |

This is incorrect. It is never illegal for a parent to change his or her mind right up and until the minute the Termination of Parental Rights becomes irrevocable. This time period varies and can be from pre-birth (Yes, pre-birth – currently 2 states allow irrevocable TPR prior to birth, although it is rarely practiced) to several months after the birth and placement of a child. The bottom line is, you need to find out what the laws in your state say. For example, while not a criminal act, there is a law in Illinois which states that parents who decide to parent, rather than place, are responsible for repaying any and all expense the hopeful adoptive couple paid during the match and after (if expenses were paid). There is no legal hard and fast rule – however, I would use caution when working with an agency who was using ‘ignorance of the law’ as a tool to promote placement.

I stand corrected. Of course, I should have said TPR. Thanks for stepping in, Brandy.
