As a matter of fact, I know a lot of the birthmothers who post here are very strongly pro-choice. Myself included.

It *is* true because I said many women, not 'all' or even 'most.' I'm a pro-choice leftwinger myself, but many aren't.

Hey Susie_Book,

This is one of the problems that many birthmothers face. We are endlessly lumped in with the abortion debate. For reasons that many of us cannot understand, we are shackled to Roe as if it is our personal cross to bear and we must answer the charges society brings against it. (No judgement of anyone meant there - just as observation).

If I had to guess, I think you would find (and this again is only my opinion) that many birthmothers would say that while abortion is not an option they felt personally comfortable with, they would not feel comfortable telling another woman how to choose.

Regards,

This statement is very true for me. However I agree with Susie too in the fact that I come from a very conservative, religious upbringing...which without a doubt influences how i feel about adoption, abortion and homosexuals.

Update

Hi, everyone. Thank you for your replies and your candor.

We've been matched with two sisters (born 3/3/07 and 10/8/05) who have been in foster care. They are "legally free." We meet them in a week or so! Hopefully, the placement in our home will occur by the end of April.

Now, we need to get a Suburban! I have a bio daughter (age almost 6), and my partner has a bio son (almost 13). We also have two boys (13 and 15) who came here from Ghana (as Liberian refugees) 4 years ago. Now, we'll have three boys and three girls! Family complete!

Thanks!

Thank you for your well-wishes.

Regarding the grocery bill....yes, those boys can EAT! I think we need to move to a farm, get a diary cow, raise some chickens, and plant a garden!

Absolutely, I would! I almost did-- but the same sex couple I ended up almost choosing ended up being manipulative jerks and liars. I was unable to find another same sex couple that was right for me, but if I had, their sexual orientation would be completely irrelevant. Two loving parents are two loving parents, and that's what matters to me. I was even more inclined to go with a same sex couple because I feel so passionately about equality and feel like same sex couples probably wait longer for birthmothers open to placing their babies in non-traditional families.

I would be less likely, however, to place with a family with two older children, but that's just because my preference is for my children to go to a childless couple.
