Hello Chris,

I admire your strength in considering something so difficult. Adoption is truly an act of love on all sides. Make sure you get counseling as part of the placement process and become as educated as you can about all of your options. It's important that you choose to place because you think it's your best option and not because you think you have no choice. You should also be up front about what kind of future contact you want/openness because that part can be your choice. Hang in there you have a difficult road ahead of you!

Hello Chris!!!

Don't stress too much about finding a couple for right now (in my opinion), just focus on what YOU want for your child, and if adoption is right for you or your child. Also there are lots of resources that you can use to get some good, no pressure counseling to help you with that decision.

I hope this helps a little!

Chris;

I've moved this into the Considering Your Options forum where you will be more apt to get advice.

Why can't you take care of this baby right now? As you're only 25 weeks, can anything be put into motion that would enable you to care for your child in fifteen weeks?

I hope everything works out for you! I know there are several agancies you can talk to that offer free counseling and they might be able to help you sort everything out. Sometimes it just helps having someone to talk to.

I wish that any of us could give you the magic answer.... but honestly it is you and only you that can decide. I have been on both side's of the track sorta speak, I have given a child up for adoption, was adopted myself and we would love to adopt now. I know what, how, when, why, where, and all the other ?'s that come from every angle of adoption. There is never a day that I can remember when I was preganet that I didn't know that what was right for Jeremy, and what was right for me.... Adoption was right then for me, just as now is a right time for us to try to adopt. I am a P.A. /R.N. we have 6 kid's and own our own company. I'm not as young as I once was, and truely life is alot easier now then when I was 18 with 1 child pregant with a sec. in college and working fulltime strugeling to mantain a realitionship that was long gone. Open your heart and listen to God , for he will never lie to you never hurt you and will alway's lead you to do what is right, regardless what that is....if you need to talk send me a message...RS

Chris Only you can decide to parent or if placing your child and making an adoption plan is what is right for both you and your child. I wish you the very best.

Are you working with an agency? A lawyer? A facilitator?

I strongly suggest you get some counseling and explore your options. Also research adoption. The Open Adoption Experience by Sharon Roszia and Lois Melina is a great place to start. If you are not a big reader I have a couple of booklets that might be helpful. Pm me.
