Anything you post on the internet is available for public consumption
This is in response to the (now banned) member’s sudden realization that the internet is a public place.
Yes, Adoption.com REQUIRES that you be registered to post - however, this forum, its profiles and all images uploaded to the site, are and will forever continue to be publicly viewable. Additionally, once you’ve made a post to our forums, you’ve got 60 minutes to remove and/or edit it. We don’t edit or remove posts for you once sixty minutes has passed, unless there is some underlying security issue and even then, we may or may not do it. It is at our discretion. I’d like to point out a few things that appear on the “Registration” Page of Adoption.com Forums: Usernames are public and can be viewed by anyone on the site as well as in Search Engines. Please keep this in mind when choosing your username. Adoption.com Forums strongly suggests that you not use your real name, phone number or email address as your user name. Usernames can not be changed at a later date. Additional Required Information (This information will appear on your public profile) In addition to the above warnings, which appear before you’ve even registered for an account, the Adoption.com Legal Terms of Service clearly states the following: CONTENT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC Any content that you choose to put publicly on Adoption.com websites will probably be available through Internet search engines, and email addresses that you post can be gathered by spammers. Do not post your email address on Adoption.com or other public location unless you are comfortable receiving increased amounts of spam. We do everything WE can to make sure that YOU know that the internet is a public place and that anyone can view any message you post publically on the forums (including, but not limited to, images and profile information). Also, we don’t delete posts because doing so disrupts the flow of the forums and conversations held in response to messages posted. Like it or not – conversation flow is an important aspect when it comes to forums and discussion groups. Again, we do everything we can to ensure that users are aware that the information they post is for public consumption. So, if you were not aware, please be aware now – everything you post on Adoption.com (with the exception of private messages) is available and viewable by any human with an internet connection. If that makes you uncomfortable and you’d like to make changes to your information, then please, by all means, do so. Keep in mind that Internet Search Engines such as Google often cache information in their SERP for months, so it may take some time for any data you have changed to reflect in Google. Contrary to what people may think, we have no control over the way Google handles their cache and can’t remove that information for you. We do everything we can to ensure that the members of our forums are safe; however there is some level of personal accountability involved. Basic internet safety knowledge is important – there is no shortage of posts on these forums from me stating as much. If you’d like to discuss this issue, respectfully and without the crazy accusations, I am happy to do so. However, if this thread turns into a huge debate/nasty-fest regarding our rules and our rights, as outlined in the Terms of this site, I will close it.
