Writers Needed for Adoption.com ($20 per article!)

Writers Needed

Adoption.com is looking for excellent writers to create new articles about pregnancy for the site. Topics needed immediately are:

1. Am I Pregnant?
2. My Options (Quick Overview)
3. My Pregnancy
4. Exploring Parenting
5. Exploring Adoption
6. Exploring Other Options
7. Fathers, Family & Friends

Articles are expected to be an average length of 600 words with a required range of 500-700 words. Future articles that fall under these topics will be needed and so writers submitting for these articles should be aware that excellent work could result in future work with Adoption.com. Compensation per article is $20.00.

Interested applicants should follow the following steps:

1. Write up a letter of interest dictating experience both with writing and pregnancy. Resumes accepted as well, but not required
2. Send links to published, on-topic content showcasing your writing skill. Published, public blog entries are acceptable.
3. Email points 1 and 2 to content@adoptionmedia.com.

If the editor is interested in your work, you will be contacted by email. The editor reserves the right to reject any submissions that are not well-written, on topic or miss the mark in general. Accepted writers are encouraged to contact the editor with any questions while writing the piece so as to avoid a rejected piece.

These articles are needed as soon as possible.

With the state of the economy, I am surprised at the lack of response.

Maybe it was posted at a bad time?

Brandy, I would have responded but decided not to because of the requirement of having previously published "on-topic" materials online. I've been a professional writer and editor since the 1980s, but I've never published anything on adoption. So, I just figured you guys wouldn't be interested.

Same thing for the blogger position--I am very interested in that position, but I have never taken the time to create my own blog anywhere on the Internet. I do have a lot of experience in providing Web content, but unfortunately, Web content providers usually don't have their author credits listed by the websites that hire them. The job description for the blogger position states that the ideal candidate will have previous experience with writing a blog. That requirement may limit the number of applications you receive.

We do need people with blog experience for blogging - its a different kind of writing and you have to be experienced to meet our requirements.

As for the content writing project, I have some flexibility and I am basically looking for someone who is well spoken and is able to write about it with an open mind. The content we need is NOT adoption focused, at least not at this juncture – its pregnancy focused.

We will come to a point where we need writers who have experience in choosing adoption, choosing abortion and choosing to parent – we’ll also need writers who are well versed and can write on ALL of those topics with an open mind and a willingness to provide factual information without slanted opinion in any/either direction.

I am happy to review any emails of interest – and look forward to having so much freakin mail, I can’t even get to it before the weekend is over

Brandy,
I obviously do not fit the criteria as an adoptee, however I would love to write about being an adoptee if the need should ever arise.

I know you are not alone in your opinion about blogging being a "different kind" of writing. However, I must admit that you have ruffled my writer's feathers, lol. Most writers who write for a living are able to adapt their styles to whatever the project demands. If we weren't able to do that, we wouldn't be able to put food on the table. Chances are fairly good that an author who can switch from writing full-length books to e-books to magazine articles to scholarly journal articles to newspaper columns to website content can probably learn and adapt quickly to the particular challenges involved in writing an online blog.
