Miva Inline ads will start appearing on the forums starting December 21st, approx. 1:00 a.m.

For those of you unfamiliar with this it’s basically where random words in a post will possibly turn into a hyperlink. When you hover over the word, you will get a pop up ad.

For example, if your post said “I brush my teeth every night”, the word “teeth” might be hyper linked (A URL of a different color) and when you hover over it, you would get an ad for a dentist or teeth whitening.

We know this is not a welcomed change, but our site would not run without ad revenue and continue to be free for all who join. If you would like to avoid seeing the Miva Inline ads, you are more than welcome to subscribe to our Premium Membership.

If you notice any ads that are inappropriate (adult etc.), please report the post or notify a moderator so we can take care of it ASAP!

If you subscribe to the Premium Membership, does that mean:
-- you will not see the inline ads in any posts you view?
-- inline ads will not be added to your posts, even when viewed by those without premium memberships?
-- both?

I remember when inline ads were launched a while ago, one of the major complaints was that people didn't want the ads to appear in their posts (as sometimes it could seem like the poster was endorsing the product.)

Premium Membership will only keep you from viewing the inline ad's - it will not keep inline ads from being seen by others.

As you may have noticed, there has been a slight delay in the launching of this project - we did launch it earlier this afternoon, but there were problems, so I removed it.

We do still plan to place them on the forums, it may be a day or so though.
