Missing -- that is a glitch that isnt connected to the forums. Only a few odd members intermittently have access to the alt.adoption messages (and noone is supposed to through this site). You will see that alt.adoption is an unmoderated website and not part of adoptionforums.com.

Jensboys ~ I've noticed threads/posts from alt.adoption included in the "New Posts" for this forum. When I click on it, it takes me to the thread ~ same as it does for threads on this forum. As MissnglinkinFl stated, the threads/posts are by "guests". The ones I've read are quite anti adoption in tone.

Understand your post that alt.adoption is not part of adoptionforums.com, but other than showing at the bottom of the page that I cannot post on the thread, it has the same appearance as threads on adoptionforums.com. Someone new to the forum could easily be turned off reading anti adoption posts on a forum that states it is in support of adoption. JMO.

I agree and we have no idea why they sometimes show up -- but its only for a select few old-time members. None of the moderators have access to the threads and we are unable to move/delete or moderate them. You and Missing are two of the members who sometimes see them.

alt.adoption is ANOTHER world ... and anything (and really that means ANYTHING) goes.

Jen ~ Thanks for the response. It is probably for the best that I can't post on there...I have read a couple things that really chapped my behind. For example, birthmom's are "tummy mummys." EEW!!! Strange...

It was at one point, locked down tight with the plan on putting in some super-duper filters, but with some of the technical handicaps we've had lately, they started peeking out again.

Hopefully we can sort them out soon.

We've had to move the forums around a lot on our end and in one of the moves, the "blinders" got turned off. They'll be turned back on eventually with a final forum move in a few weeks... also, happily, with that move, we'll have search back!

Kiwi,

When a forum page is loading, I can see the Navigation bar with User CP, etc. As soon as the page is fully loaded, the bar disappears. It appears to be behind a blank bar. Is this something the technicians are aware of? I'm sure I'm not the only person this is happening to. I've attached a picture of the screen as it appears when it's fully loaded.

Thanks!

This is entirely new to me. Are you on "fixed width" or 100% width"?

I reccomend 100%, change it at the very bottom of the page, in a drop down menu towards the left. Please let me know if that does not resolve it.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Kiwi,

I've always had it on 100% width, and I tried fixed width to see if that helped. I've also tried changing my default font to many different ones. Nothing seems to resolve it on my end.

Thanks for looking into this.

Does it happen all the time or is it a recent development? Any particular page or area, or is it all the time and everywhere? What happens if you link directly to something in the nav bar, like <<http://forums.adoption.com/usercp.php?>> ??

I can't yet recreate it, so I'm not able to really identify the problem and it's cause... bear with me!

It happens all the time, on every forum. The only place I can see the menu is on the www.familyforums.com page, and I believe that menu has a different layout. I have the User CP bookmarked so I can get to it that way. Accessing the pages is not a problem. I just can't see or access the menu items from the forum pages. It almost looks as though the Community tap on the far right has a blank menu that is covering up the other menu. As the page is loading, I can see the menu. Then it disappears behind the white bar. It's been happening to me since late April. I'm attaching a close-up picture of just the toolbar area for you to see.
Thanks!

Kiwi,

Here is what I've discovered. There seem to be two linked yet separate forums. If the address begins with forums.adoption.com, the titles are all lavender shades and I can't see the menu. If the address begins with www.familyforums.com, the titles are all blues and I can see the menu. The actual posts seem to exist in both locations. Some links go to one location, some go to the other. I discovered this by accessing the forums through the New Posts link. It took me to the "FamilyForums" sites.

Should there be two different sites like this???

Thanks!

Yes, that is normal Your missing toolbar, however, is highly irregular.
