This story got to the deepest part of me. I felt as if my son's parents wrote this ... just ten years in the future.
To take away John's (and how ironic that this boy's name is my son's name) birth mother all of his life - just out of fear and insecurity was devastating.. not only to John but to his adoptive parents and his birth mother as well.

Secrecy and fear can ruin lives. Not just the adoptee, but the relationship between the adoptee and his/her parents, and the birth parent as well.

I encourage EVERYONE to read the story provided in the prior post. Sadly - it is written anonymously ... isn't it time to stop keeping secrets? I pray that this does not happen to my son and me ten years down the road.

My story and stories like this one are the reason that open adoption should ALWAYS be the goal.

Unfortunantly... that story begins as mine is now. And it's heartbreaking. But I thank God that adoptions are opening up and there are places like this board and others that enable all o fus to TALK and THINK about it!!! lol
