TGM -- After living the past 10 years up here in the Sierra foothills, you couldn't pay me enough to sleep outside in a tent. We have way too many nightly visitors...like this young fella'...

Just funnin' with ya TGM I'll confess and tell you that I fell somewhat for the snipe hunting fun my first year of college. I grew up in the burbs and while we camped as a kid, we didn't have "snipes" LOL! Went to college in rural Iowa and it was a whole different world!

Raven, I like cats but that one is just a wee bit too big, thanks!

Nah Crick, I'm all for a good tease. I do have four older brothers you know!

And I'm certainly not above teasing others....I do recall my Dad and I once convincing my younger sister while we were driving across the country that the animals along the side of the road - the ones that bore a STRIKING resemblance to cows - were elkus indianicus.

For the entire drive. Thirty days.

She was not pleased when we confessed that they were regular ol' cows.

Oh, and for the record? I totally would have fallen for snipe hunting had wikipedia never been invented, haha!

ROFLOL

I remember having a friend when we were in 9th grade that we used to tease regularly. She was sooooo gullible. My entire family (all 7 of us) had her convinced that the weighted spacer bars between power lines (that look like a little cement bucket) were to catch the excess electricity that dripped off the lines.

This poor girl also couldn't understand why some women could have more than a couple of children, considering how they got pregnant and all. She was so sheltered and her parents never talked about sex. She learned about it at our dinner table (again in 9th grade). She actually thought that you got pregnant by the man peeing on your stomach. Poor girl. I always felt sorry for her. She never saw a naked male until her wedding night (not even her brothers when they were baby's). Never saw her mother in less than a bra and panties.

Camping???? TG I'm with you on that. I did go backyard camping when I was a kid, my dad's friend had a house by a lake and we "camped" there. I don't even think we lasted the night

However a lot of my friends take their trailers and make vacations out of camping on the beach. Now THAT I can get used to.

Survived a baby shower and a christening this weekend. The minute I held my husbands cousins son, he cried. I'm like "crap, I'm no good at this!!!!!" One more baby shower to go this weekend, and hopefully I'm done for a while (until mine, I guess?)

I am so happy to be out of my first trimester!!!! So far so good. I feel good, no obvious triggers, tho tonight's the first night I actually feel like I gained weight. It's all downhill from here I suppose.....

Oh, and the most random thing happened! A few weeks ago, I got up the nerve to request my DD's mom on Facebook and she accepted my request. Which was cool because I got to see pics of DD (she is getting GORGEOUS!) not cool because she didn't respond to the message I sent her, so I figured this would just be one more avenue of communication that she wouldn't respond to me on. But then I had left my chat open and she started IM'ing me (and for those who know my story, that is HUGE!!!!) It was only for a few minutes, and then we got disconnected, but still, I was shocked!!!! Trying not to get ahead of myself, but I'm hoping this is a step forward in the right direction!!!

I'm getting more energy now, hopefully I won't be such a stranger

Brown, I was soooo happy for you when you told me that. No phone call on my end, they are out of town so I may just call and leave a message and see what happens.

No way I will go camping, my friend is camping this week and there is just no way I could handle that. Plus she has 4 or 5 kids with her for the week, from 3 to 20.

Hey girls.

I need to read back to catch up. I got sick and had to be hospitalized and just got out today. Nice to be home, but I'm wiped out. Missed our banter and hopefully I'll be able to read back and see what I missed...after I get a good night's sleep.

Love you all!

ZXC-sorry to here you were under the weather. Glad you are feeling good engough to be home.

On the note of camping: If you are sleeping in a tent on the ground I have a suggestion. I Usually round up an old area rug and put it under the sleeping bags. It takes the pointieness out of the rocks. If you have more then one you can set one on the outside of the tent like a front porch and it will help to keep you from tracking stuff into the tent. Of course if it rains the rug may get wet.

Did you guys have to put toothpaste on your nose when you went snipe hunting?!?!!? When I was a girl scout, we did....but I was one of those kids who "knew better" about the snipes...I was like, who are these idiots trying to kid!?!?!?!?

I have been SO busy! Between work, VBS, and getting ready for a HUGE yard sale (which I HATE yard sales). We are getting rid of all my dad's stuff, which is good, it has been six months today since he passed away. I can't believe it's been six months.

But in 8 days we leave for the beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it's the perfect time for a little relaxation and rest. Then when I get back it will be all about getting ready for the fall - which means Preschool stuff and opening the new center!!!!

ZXD...hope you are doing okay. Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. I'll be praying for you!

Oh no - I hope everything's all right!

When you're not so wiped out we'll need to get together for lunch again. Miss you and hope you're recovering quickly!!
