Hey I hate ketchup. To me that isn't even a condiment. So everytime we had a big breakfast, their would be french toast so on the syrup went and some got on the eggs. Now, however, I can only have cheese in my eggs and I don't do syrup unless it is cinnamon maple or the pure maple stuff I get in Vermont each year.
We were talking about these kinds of things last night at work. We were in stitches!!
All though now I am a honey mustard girl and I dunk my burgers, fries and chicken in honey mustard.

Although I will admit that one of my favorite foods in the world often leaves people a bit grossed out: Hamloaf. Yep, you're picturing it right. Just like meatloaf but you use ground up ham. I don't know, it was my grandma's thing in Indiana......SO delicious though!

The funny thing? I HATE regular ham. Like a honey baked ham or a ham sandwhich? Won't touch the stuff!

I believe that we might have one of those in our freezer TG, but hey, we are still in Indiana currently.

Hmmm...

I don't like most cheeses and I hate the idea of ketchup and bread together. Ketchup is fine on fries and even some beef products, but not on hamburgers or sandwiches.

There's a restaurant here that serves Fried Dill Pickle Chips. I'd never heard of those before we went there. They're ok... but I prefer my pickles cold.

Raven...brains & eggs...uhm...no thanks. I'm really glad to hear you didn't like it because if you did, you'd win this thread hands down! LOL!

I like ketchup but it's not the end all of condiments. There are others out there and people need to use them to broaden their palate horizons.

Off to make Frog Legs for dinner. YUM!

okay, so my cousin eats like ANYTHING. He's a total woodsman who has seriously lived in the woods survivorman style (he's 24). About three years ago we were visiting with him and my dad (who usually wins for weirdest food pleasures) asked him if he's ever tried anything he didn't like.

My cousins answer?

LUNG.

We all choked on what we were eating and thought maybe he was joking.

Nope, he ate deer lung (this during his, you kill it, skin it, eat everything it has and use the rest for shelter, clothing, etc.) Said it was too chewy for his liking.

Anyone got anything weirder than that??

My dad was stationed in Panama and he loved telling the stories about how they would put monkeys in the middle of a big table, with only it's head showing, crack it open and eat the brains....EWWWWW!!

Some of my favorite snacks:

Cheez-It's and Cream Cheese

"Cheese Tacos" - white corn tortilia, mexican cheese and hot sauce from Taco Bell (no other hot sauce will do).

Some of the odd things I've had:

Calf Fries - they weren't bad...I just couldn't get used to chomping down on steer testicles.

Pear Salad - Chilled half pears (from a can) a dollop of real mayo and sprinkled chedder cheese on top. I seriously almost gagged when I first saw it - but I tried it and I LOVE it (No one else in the house does *sigh*).

I like Tabasco on my popcorn.
I commit the ultimate sin of dipping my steak in ranch
I pour ranch on top of the gravy on my chicken fried steak
Chopped BBQ Briskit sandwhich with mustard, pickles and cheese

I never EVER - NEVER eat anything on the bone. Ever. Period. I can't even watch it be prepared (coming off the bone) and eat it. Buy it or bring it already boneless and I am ok - otherwise, I'll pass.

Those are about all of my odd food habits.

Oh - and Mexican food. I can (and often do) eat it for every meal of the day...sometimes for weeks at a time. mmmmmm

Thumbs down Lambs Eyes

My maternal grandfather was an executive with ARAMCO (Arabian-American Oil Co.), and he lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the expatriate compound during the 1940's and 1950's. When I was a little girl, he liked to gross me out with stories of strange things he'd seen in his life. The story I remember oh so well took place in the early '50s, when he was invited to dine one evening with the royal family...this is when "old" King Saud was around versus "young" King Faisal or the royal princes. One of the most questionable delicacies to be served that evening was a huge platter of lambs' eyes. When I asked him how he could possibly eat lambs' eyes, he told me that it would have been rude to not taste them...that they were only served to guests of honor. I'm glad I wasn't there, YUCK!!!

Talking OMG, Brandy!!

Brandy, I think we're long-lost twins or something. Popcorn with Tobasco? YUM!!! And the pears with mayo and grated cheddar cheese has been a staple my entire life! In fact, I love to eat all the things you just mentioned. Well...except for the Calf Fries, although I did try Rocky Mountain Oysters once in a saloon in Lamy, New Mexico...

That reminds me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, I think where they go to that "buffet" with the gross things.
