pictures for birthmother
I have a question that I hope does not come off wrong! My oldest son's birthmother receives pictures of our son once a year (her choice). It is coming up on his second birthday in February. I want to make sure that I portray him to her the best that I can.
My question is would it be better to send pictures of things he has done throughout the past year...or...send more current pictures so she can see how he looks, things he likes, etc. now? In your experiences what would you like to recieve? What type of information would be most comforting in a letter? I would appreciate any information that you can provide! Christa ![]() |

Maybe you could send a photo taken at about 18 months, as well as a recent one. Children change and grow so fast at that age.
As far as the letter... maybe just update her on his health, what milestones he's reached, his likes and dislikes, a few lines about his personality, the things that make him unique and special. It's good of you to keep in contact; I'm sure any news you send will be comforting and reassuring to the birthmom. Best wishes to you, ~ Sharon |

How many pictures do you usually send?
I would suggest sending at least one that is a close up of his face and another that shows all of him. Maybe a really sweet one of him sleeping and another sillly one of him with birthday cake all over his face or playing with mud or laughing. My favorite picture that I have of my birthdaughter is a good close up when she was about a year and a half and she has an expression of complete delight on her face. She is just beaming. One of the things that I especially liked getting in letters is descriptions of funny things my birthdaughter has said or done. Funny ways she says words (kiki instead of cookie, NaeNae instead of Nathan, etc.) or how she reacted the first time she ate chocolate, things like that... |

I think you should send maybe half really recent pictures, and half pictures from various times throughout the year. I usually get about 20 pictures a year from my daughter's aparents, and 1/3 to 1/2 are really recent, which is nice.

I really appreciate all of the responses! To answer a question...I usually send around 10 to 15 pictures. It seems like with that many she can get a good idea of how he is really doing.
I had never though of putting things like how he says words, faces he makes when he tries something, etc. That is a really good idea! I love having this forum. Thanks again you are all wonderful! Christa |

Christa you sound like a wonderful amother. I too agree that a few up close ones are priceless, and then a few throughout the year to see what the child has been up to are great.
How thoughtful!! ![]()
