I thought it'd be fun to get a roll call going for those of us in the Columbus area.

I'm Jenny. My husband, Andy, and I adopted our son J through FCCS over 3 years ago. I've since given birth to little miss H and my rowdy boy M to round out our family.

J is in the first grade and recently started attending public school again after a year of homeschooling. He loves animals, superheroes and martial arts.

H is 2 and is the one in charge around here. She loves play-doh, coloring and all things Dora.

M is 9mo and starting to walk. He puts anything and everything in his mouth and is currently emptying my sock basket.

So, who else is out there?

We "claim" Columbus as we like to do things in the city. We're actually in Cambridge, OH, about an hour east.

I'm an open adoption birth mom. I'm also a wife to a professional firefighter and a Mom to a crazy one year old boy named Nicholas.

I'm Kathy. I live in Columbus. I'm a single mom. I love to shop, draw, paint and write poetry. I was working for a real estate company, but that ended last week. Now I'm trying to start my own business.

I adopted my oldest daughter S (now age 12) through FCCS 7 years ago. She likes drawing, photography and music.

In 2005 I adopted a sibling group also through FCCS. V is 11. He's my only son. He has some learning issues that no one seems to be able to figure out. He likes reading, playing video games and pestering his sisters. K and K are my youngest daughters (twins,age 8) They like bike riding, watching movies and playing outside.

I'm Denise - I'm from Xenia, Ohio. We adopted 3 children from FCCS. We were foster parents thru Ohio Youth Advocate Program at the time and it just so happened that all 3 of our foster kids came from Franklin County. We have since transferred to Montgomery County Children's Services and have 2 foster children thru them now. We have 3 biological children, all girls, ages 24, 21 & 16. We have legal custody of a 7 year old girl. We have adopted a 7 year old boy, 4 year old girl & 3 year old boy. Our foster kids are 22 months & 11 months. We have two grandchildren, both girls, 3 months and 1 week! Nice to meet you all!

Nice to see there are others from Columbus...I was wondering how to go about meeting others!

We have a 7 year old son who is our "miracle" child.., I had been told early on that I could never have children...we found that we love being parents more than anything else. So we are in the process of adopting a 7 year old girl from Guatemala. We should be hearing any day when we travel! We are ready!
We are currently very busy taking lots of Spanish lessons...I think we had better get real good at charades!

Hello Columbus! We recently lived in Columbus for 4 years prior to moving north last year. I had my first son the week before we moved from Columbus and we adopted our second son through a great agency in the Dayton area.

Hi All,
We are from Defiance, OH but adopted our son through an agency in Columbus. Our son's birthmom also lives in Columbus, so we're up there frequently. We have 2 bio kids, a daughter from Liberia, Africa and our son from Columbus. Currently pursuing another adoption. I am a stay at home mom and my husbands an artist. We are also foster parents , it's nice to see some foster parents out there.

We have a 3 yr old son and would love to add a dtr to our family. We want a little girl, as young as possible

Welcome Chrissy! We went through an agency, so I don't know much about FCCS. But, if you decide to try the agency route or want more info. just let me know. Our agency was fantastic and much less expensive than most.

Chrissy are there any specific questions you have about adopting through FCCS ? I've done it twice.

To be approved for adoption through
Franklin County Children Services:
applicants must live in Franklin, Madison, Fairfield, Delaware, Pickaway, Licking, and Union County. Applicants not living in these counties must be approved in their own counties and have a copy of their home study sent to Franklin County Children Services for matching purposes;
*applicants may be single, married, divorced, or widowed;
*applicants must be at least age 18;
* applicants must complete a 24-hour training course, which includes several background checks;
* applicants must be self-supporting; and
*applicants must have room in their homes for the child or children they wish to adopt.
