Switching from ICBF to Casa

Hi all,

Is it possible to switch from ICBF to CASA after you have already received approval from ICBF?

Thanks

We briefly looked into this once upon a time. I called an agency that did both programs and asked them. I'm not sure if what they told me was more of an agency guideline or an official ICBF guideline. But they said we could switch but would have re-do our entire dossier. Basically we would have had to start over, which still would be faster than an infant through ICBF, though. I don't know if that is the case for every agency, it's just what one woman told me. We didn't do it, though, because we got our referral from Guat. shortly after we started thinking about it.

Anyway, not sure if that information is accurate or helpful, but that's my two cents!

What is the status on the casas currently? Are they moving that much faster than ICBF still? In another group I'm a part of there is a family who had been waiting 17 months as of January and still has no referral from one of the casas. It seems as though things are slower through the casas now than during our first two adoptions, but then again, I'm not following along with them very closely.

Also, along the lines of the Casas, are there differences in the Casas in Bogota and the ones throughout the rest of the country which we hear much less about and which far fewer agencies place children through? Does ICBF work with the Casas, placing children there when they don't have enough foster homes? Are all children placed for adoption through ICBF in foster homes or does ICBF have their own orphanages? I guess I just assumed that they did, but maybe not. I am curious to learn more.

Okay...time to get down to business...it's nap time here and I must get something done around the house!

If I would have to do my dossier all over again and start from the beginning, I have one thing to say...Fuggetaboutit

I am still waiting to hear from my new agency and I will get their take on it. My last agency made it seem like I could not go through a Casa. My new agency makes it seem like I can go through a Casa. It is all very confusing.
