OK, this is a stupid question but I just can not figure it out.
I know when my fingerprints expire, and have heard that it is okay if they do. But, I really need my I600A - 171H to stay current or I am up a river.

Does it expire 1 year after the dossier is approved?
or
1 year after the homestudy is approved
or
3 months after the fingerprints expire?


I have hears a few different answers and my head is spinning a bit. I do not want anything to expire, but I do not want to do it too soon in case my referral comes in more tha 18 months. If that is the case then I will have to do it again.

Never mind. I learned that my I171H and I600A expires on January 6th.

I am going to start to re-do it now though. My previous case worker, new agency and home study social worker has scared the wits out of us with what would happen if we let them expire.

Hopefully we will receive a referral with 18 months of our updated documents so we don't have to do it again!

I am worried about the same thing...we just updated all of our paperwork and applied for the extension (ours expires in October), and I am hearing that we may not be able to extend it again. Hopefully that list gets moving!!

I also read somewhere that I may not be able to apply for renewal too early. If my I600A expires in January, I can not apply more than 90 days before that expiration? I may have to wait until October 6th.

I know...so crazy!! I just looked at that date the other day and thought the same thing. One year down...thanks for the cheerleader.
I do know that you can't apply until you are in the 90-day window...the trouble in IL is how long it takes for state/DCFS approval (which we have to have first) before we can send in our request. Weeks and weeks. So, we did start our homestudy update early. That included some new medicals, new financial statements, etc. Maybe at least you can get going on that stuff!! It's hard to be told to absolutely not let that 171H expire and then sit and wait to get it done!
