Urgent!! New Icbf Approved Agency List!

ICBF has a NEW LIST of APPROVED AGENCIES. There are now only 16 instead of 23 that they will be working with. Many of the old approved agencies are NOT on the List. After May 1, 2008, they will no longer be accepting new applications for adoptions from the agencies that are not on the following list.

SO PLEASE CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE FOR APPROVED AGENCIES~!
SO, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS IF YOUR DOSSIER IS NOT YET IN COLOMBIA.

PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR AGENCIES THAT HAVE BEEN APPROVED!

Here is the website:

I just want to clarify that people who submitted their I-600A prior to April 1. 2008 will be allowed to finish their process with their original agency. This only applies to families who did not submit the I-600 A before April 1st and will be submitting an I-800A. These people will need to work with a Hague approved agency.

Any agency that is not Hague accredited cannot submit new dossiers in Colombia for people who did not file the I-600A before April 1, 2008.

The agencies not appearing on the US Hague accredited list may be in the process of accreditation. However, it is also possible that they may have verifiable complaints against them that could potentially make it impossible for them to become accredited. This information is not public knowledge. Therefore, it would be wise for people beginning the process to only choose an agency that is currently listed on the ICBF website shown above.

I wonder why my agency is not on this list? I have already received approval and am waiting, but hope there will not be any other problems..

I am going to contact my caseworker and see what she has to say.

What about I600 Renewal??

We filed before April 1st....but I knot that due to the long wait, we will need to re-file / fingerprint. Do you think we are grandfathered in since our initial submit of the I600 is before April 1,2008? Our agency is currently not on the list of 16.

We got an update from our agency last week explaining why they have not yet received Hague accreditation. It's nothing major, and they fully expect to be accredited within 30-60 days. They said if you submitted your I-600 before April 1, you will be fine as long as you do not let your approved I-171H expire.

OK, this may be a stupid question but I have to ask. Does the I-171H expire when the fingerprints expire, 18 months from the file date or what? I can not get a clear answer from my caseworker and want to make sure my paperwork stays current. My agency is also not on the list so I really want to stay on top of everything.

Your fingerprints expire 15 months from the date they are done (give or take a day or two) and your 171H is good for 18 months from the date of approval.

It is not a stupid question!

I asked the same one...if it is, we are both challenged!

I clarified this with my agency and as long as you do not let your fingerprints expire and get refingerprinted in the time specified you will be fine! They will use your initial date filed as long as you continue to get fingerprinted. Write down the dates someplace that won't forget!

You are definetly not both challanged! If I only had a quarter for each time I see that same question posted. It is one of USCIS's best kept secrets, I swear!

Do keep in mind that you get one free refingerprinting and one free renewal of your 171H now. Though for both you must put in the request prior to the expiration date for them to be free.
