data from ADECOP
Thought this information was interesting. It put things in perspective for me. These are the amount of children matched in 2007. I found it in the forum at the ADECOP website.
En Colombia 2633 ninos adoptados de los cuales 2319 (87 through ICBF : Adopcion national 40% Italia 15% (356 ninos) Francia 14% (326) Espana 9% (218) Belgica 16 ninos Suiza 6 ninos USA 198 ninos |

I just wanted to point out that these are Colombian statistics, and in actuality Colombian families -- be they in Colombia, the US, Spain, or any other country are still considered "National Adoption" and not "USA" or "Spain adoptions".
So, the results (198 children coming to the USA) do not reflect the Children that were adopted to the US by Colombian families. If these results were added in, it would be more and the National Adoption Statistic would be lower. |
