Can you adopt through ICBF with 2 bio children?

Ugh, so today I'm finally hearing back from the agencies I requested info from and two are saying that I can't adopt from COLOMBIA with 2 bio children. I thought that it was just from casas (or most casas)??? Can't you adopt through ICBF with two bio children?

You can have your agency refer to the new lineamiento which states that there is NO RESTRICTION on the number of children already in the home when adopting from ICBF. I would choose another agency as the one you are talking with does not seem to even know what is going on. Have them read the LINEAMIENTO -- it is very clear you just need to make sure your homestudy that it states you can handle more children with an explanation that you have the economic resources, time and capability of having more than 2 children.

Also, we are in the middle of adopting our 3rd child -- SO I HAVE FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE that it IS POSSIBLE.

Addiitonally, ICBF makes no difference between biological or adopted children. SO, find a new agency.

THANK YOU! Just to be clear, though, it wasn't MY agency, it was just one that I contacted for more information. i've heard some scary stuff about them already so I really didn't plan on using them. Thank you.

Jackie,
Some agencies may not offer adoptions through the ICBF...I know that a few we looked into were casas privadas only. Since some (all?) of the casas have restrictions on how many children they want you to have in the home, is that what you are running into?
I will PM you about our agency. They work with the ICBF and with some of the casas.
Keep looking!!
