Red face insight on wait times? x-post

I have already asked my agency, but I was just wondering if anyone had an insight about wait times- here's the situation:
We are waiting for our I171h to apostille everything and then send our dossier. We are requesting 2 children 0-5 years old. (I'm 29, DH is 30). Our agency told us it will be a 2 1/2 year wait from the time we send dossier.

My DH was just asked at his work if he would be interested in a 12 month position in China, starting 7/06-6/07. If the wait for the adoption really takes 2.5 years, we'll be fine, because I anticipated us sending in the dossier this summer. I'm not sure if you'll think I'm crazy for asking this, but is this 2 1/2 year wait accurate? If the wait times speed up of course we will be able to come home early from the assignment, it would just be a little chaotic- but my kids are my priority. Anyone have any insight/advice?

Thank you!

you know what? i'd say go for it!

its super hard to plan anything with an adoption in process, but if i were you guys i'd have to give it ago. i love experiencing new cultures and traveling. its a wonderful chance for you guys.

that being said, i know nothing about wait times for young sib groups. i know they tend to be the longest of all, but you never know whats going to happen.

I switched from Panama to Colombia a year ago, our dossier was completed Aug. 27, 2004. We still don't have approval. We just submitted additional paperwork a month ago and are complete. We still don't have "official" and have no idea of wait time for our siblings referal. So, you have time, go for it! It will be a great experience and make the awful long wait in Colombia go by faster. Good Luck!

helpful wait times web site

Maybe someone from this board has already posted this?? But here is a web site someone from one of the yahoo groups posted for us:

http://www.adecop.org/nova/article.php3?id_article=67

Look at the Lista de Espera and it gives the months of the couples now for each age range...

i would only use that to give a rough estimate. i've seen cases that don't match up with what that list says.

Yeah, but things have definetly slowed now. I remember someone saying in March, don't worry until April comes and goes without a regional referral. Well, that has definetly happened. Anyone heard of more regional referrals out there?

I know it is 100% irrational but I can't help but think they may have forgotten about us or changed their minds about our approval

I know people who got their regionla referral yesterday (Norway). They were arpproved for boy/girl 1 year, and their papers went to Colombia in late april 04 (approved 2. sept) and early august 04 (approved nov 04). Maybe it's speeding up again!?

The list sent out by ICBF does not say who gets regional referrals, but who hasn't yet got their regional referral - oldest cases.

Cecilie :-)

Cecilie,
Have you heard any word from families waiting for a referral of a 0-12mo old? It is great that the 12-23 list is seeing some movement, but I am just wondering if there is any more word on the 0-12mo list?
Heather
