Lori, For some reason, the wait for Casa Nicholas is always longer. The babies are referred to parents not too long after birth ( a good thing!), which is why this program is so popular ( the bad thing). Hang in there. I hear referrals are taking as long as 8-9 months, but will be well worth your wait.Are you working with the attorney team, the Greenburg's out of NY?

We are working through Commonwealth Adoptions in Arizona, but the attorney they work with is Raul Valez Valez, who is from Medellin and has worked with this orphanage for over 20 years (he now lives in Pittsburgh). He's absolutely AWESOME! He adopted his daughter from Casita de Nicholas so really knows them well. Thanks for your input--I like to hear realistic information like that as we're not getting that from our agency! We are facing some big decisions right now as my husband and I are moving to another state in January (he's taking a new job), so it's kind of hard to plan not knowing exactly when we'll be going to Colombia!

Good luck to you. You will get your baby from C. Nicholas, just hang in there.Your agency probably doesn't want to sound negative, but really how negative is the news when a 9 month wait for a referral isn't so long. It may seem long, but will be worth it when you get home.
