Travel destination
When one is adopting from Columbia, what is the main destination? Do all the children reside in orphanages in Bogota or are they from all over the country and the courts are in the capital?

Well, there are many more agencies or "Fundacions" in and around Bogota and I think that most families at least go through Bogota because that is where the U.S. Embassy is. But I know that there are other places with kids available. When we were there we met children who had just been adopted from a smaller town called "Medellin" (I'm not sure if this spelling is correct.) they were waiting a few days for their flights home.
The places I know of around Bogota are CRAN, Los Pisingos and Ayudame because these are the ones that my agency in the US deals with. You can also go with ICBF directly but a lot of those kids seemed to be a little older. While you wait for your papers to go through the courts a lot of families fly to the Colombian coast resort cities of Cartegena and Santa Marta. Good luck! |
