Children's Hope International

Does anyone have experience with CHI? We are thinking of using them to adopt from Columbia and would appreciate any input.
Thanks.

I AM CURRENTLY USING CHI

ME AND MY HUSBAND ARE CURRENTLY USING CHI TO ADOPT FROM COLOMBIA ALSO AND SO FAR THEY HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF THE HOMESTUDY AND DOSSIER PREPARATION. AS WE GO ALONG I WILL TELL YOU MORE. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR DECISION MAKING FOR THE AGENCY. THE ONLY THING THAT I AM A LITTLE UNHAPPY ABOUT IS THAT THEY DON'T DO SEMINARS IN FLORIDA YET FOR ADOPTION ISSUES.

We adopted 2 girls from Colombia in October of 2001 through CHI. All Colombian adoptions are processed through their Oregon office. We found them to be professional, friendly and helpful.

We began the adoption process in January of 2001, our completed dossier went to Bogota in July and we brought our girls home in October of 2001. It went very quickly compared to the average wait time, but I believe that is partly due to the wide age range that we were open to. We had requested two girls between 4 and 9.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF ANYONE THAT HAS USED OR IS USING CHILDREN'S HOPE INTERNATIONAL? ME AND DH STARTED THE COLOMBIAN ADOPTION WITH THEM AND I HAVE HAD GREAT COMMUNICATION WITH THEM EVEN THOUGH WE LIVE IN DIFFERENT STATE.

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE IN THIS ADOPTION PROCESS.

We're using CHI

We're using CHI & have had a totally great experience with them! I can't tell you how many times I've been on the phone with Julie to ask her yet another question & she's always very patient, compassionate & informative. She's just the greatest. Dh & I got a chance to meet her in August when we went to Oregon to visit family.

We started the whole process earlier this year (we sent in our app in mid-April). Our homestudy was started in June, I believe. We're waiting our BCIS approval (I-171H). Our homestudy has been with BCIS since early August, so it could come any time now.

CHI told me that we can expect a wait of 6-12 months after our dossier goes down to Colombia. We're requesting sisters age 5 or younger.

God bless,
Stacie
p.s. If you have specific questions about CHI, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Children's Hope International

I agree wholeheartedly with your view of CHI. Everyone I've spoken with there has been wonderful. I went to one of the informational meetings (in Huntsville) and met Brenda Barker who looks over the TN office. I've talked with several folks in the TN office and have spoken extensively with Julie.

We're done with the homestudy...that was the most nervewracking part. I felt like I was laying my life open & saying "judge me". Our social worker was terrific, though, and did everything in her power to help me get rid of my fears of the homestudy process. We used a local agency to do the homestudy.

I'm glad the paperchasing is nearly done. I'll let you know when our dossier has gone to Colombia!
God bless,
Stacie
