Thumbs up Adoption Party-need Ideas!!!

Our order of final adoption is tomorrow after a year long battle. We want to have an adoption party. I need ideas. She is 1 and so it will really be for adults celebrating her life in our family. Thinking of something of an afternoon reception w/ cake, cookies, etc. But what activities? What type of decorations? Im not very good at that but we really want to celebrate the event. Txs

In our family....especially when we adopted the older kids, we celebrate 'an adoption day' and 'a birthday'. The adoption day is made a bigger deal of, than the birthday. The adoption day was either the 'day you came into our home' or 'the day we went to court to finalize'.

The cake and cookie reception deal is great. I would possibly print up some banner through a computer (?). Otherwise, it's a 'happy adoption day' party, I think.

The only problem we have had, is our latest adoption was of a newborn. Her birthday and 'day we brought her home' were only one day apart.......she may not get the 'extra fun' of two days....but we'll see....she's still very little!

Congrats and all that........it IS wonderful, isn't it!!??!??!?!

Ideas

At my son's adoption party, we got him a cake that said "Home For Good." He was only 5 months old, but it was a BIG deal for us. We put up balloons and invited over all of our friends and family for cake. To me, the most important part was taking lots of pictures. He doesn't remember the party, but the pictures will forever show him what a HUGE deal it was, and how excited everyone was, that our family was finally a "legal" family.

Congratulations!!

Adoption party

Thanks for the Congrats--We did it today!! We are a family!! Of course we felt like it when we first brought her home but I really do like the idea of making it a VERY BIG deal to show her in the future just how special adopting her is. I thought about having people write out a favorite Bible verse, prayer or poem to add to her baby book too. Pictures would be great to go along w/ that. Thanks for the idea. Her birthday and adoption day are both this month as well but I think we are really going to try to make them 2 seperate celebrations. Thanks again.
