Home School /Private School
I know many, many people who homeschool currently or have done so in the past. For those who are serious about homeschooling I stand in awe of the astounding job that they have done with their kids. Their children are so well rounded and very bright! I have learned from watching them that homeschooling is much more than books and paper. When you homeschool every experience becomes an opportunity for a learning experience!
And then I knew a few parents who homeschooled and did not take the job seriously. At the drop of the hat they would let lessons go. After a while the children would be put back in public school a grade behind where they were when they left. My 2 youngest children attend a small and private christian school. We love it and they are so happy there. They are thriving in their education. Only 30 kids in the whole school so classroom sizes are small and they get a lot of attention. I thank God that he provides the finances for us to do so, if I could not send them there I would choose homeschooling. Judilyn |

Homeschooling
When we adopted our children (a sibling group of 4) we started out with the oldest two in a private Christian school, but 2 years later we felt convicted that they needed more focused attention and began to homeschool.
We practice a more relaxed approach to schooling, and refuse to merely do "school at home." Sure, we may miss some of the book work, but all our children have learned quite a bit, and in recent testing our youngest son showed a high school level of reading, even though he is in the equivalent of the 7th or 8th grade. If you are merely trying to do "school at home," you would probably be better off with a private or even (shudder) government school. However, if you want to explore things and the many opportunities available, nothing beats homeschooling. If anything, you now have too many resources available. Enough are there that I am completely convinced that anyone can homeschool, though many will not put forth the committment to do so. Our focus allowed our children to be off ADHD meds for 7 years, though we had to restart this spring to allow them to focus better as they get older. And in response to those who complain about homeschoolers who don't "do enough": I will take you much more seriously when you complain as loudly about failures at government schools. Far more children are left behind there. Plus, we are past the "mass production" age of education, though many people fail to realize it, and continue to offer their children up as sacrifices to our current educational "gods." Brad |

Hi,
Don't be decieved the government schools are not religion nutural they most definitely have their own agenda and it is not the same as Gods. They teach things that God calls abominations and they don't teach any christian values. In fact they have abolished God and all He stands for. As far as the children being able to stand firm in their walk. God says evil company corrupts good habits. I've seen more christian children take a hard fall into the secular world than I have seen stand their ground for Christ in the public school system. I have been home schooling for nine years now. It is not always easy some days it's just plain hard, but the benefits far out weigh the tough days. At least I know my children are being taught the values we want them to have and God is foremost in our school. Someone else isn't filling their minds with garbage for x amount of hours a day and they aren't bombarded by temptations at every turn. They have plenty of socialization but with other children who are like minded they also learn to socialize with people of all ages not just their peers. Yes, Jesus was around sinners but to call them to repentance and to offer them salvation. He wasn't led astray by them or continue in their company if they rejected Him. He was also "God" who cannot sin. Their is a big difference between Jesus and a impressionable child. God has entrusted us parents with the care of our/His children not the state. That also means seeing that they get a good Christian education. Train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it. What kind of training are the government schools offering our children? |

I have a 3 month old who I will be homeschooling. I don't want him to set foot in a public "government indoctrination center" school. Homeschooling is really gaining momentum and support, depending on the state. I'm looking forward to it!
