Profile Book Advice

Does anyone have any advice for making a profile book for birth-moms to look through? We haven't met with the agency yet, and I realize that I'm putting the cart before the horse but I just can't sit back and do nothing. We have the basic guidelines from our agency (must be no more then 26 pages in length, must have 16-20 pictures, etc) but HOW to write it really isn't explained. I've been doing one page of text and one page of pictures, but I'm thinking that's a bit too much information over-load for these birth-moms. Is it best to do snipits of information or do they REALLY want our life "story"? I guess I'm just trying to get a handle on how much is "too much". I know the subjects I want to address, us as a couple, us as individuals, where we grew up/our families, jobs, hobbies, pets, etc. but I just don't know how in-depth to go with these. Our agency wants 20 spiral bound books done in color. Any advice from those that have gone before would be much appreciated!
Thank you very much!!
-Joy

I'm sorry, I wish I could help. We were allowed to write a one page letter with pics on the back.

Really, you can be working on it now but it will only be shown to expectant mothers after you are finished with your homestudy and/or education. Good luck!

If you want to email me at adoptalove@hotmail.com with your information, I can send you our portfolio over pdf. Our agency said that ours was one of the more creative ones and the first birthmother that looked at it chose us!

Adoptingmomma, you have definitely asked a question that I wondered about as well, good luck with everything. Toddanderica I would love to see your book to get an idea of what I would need to do when the time is right.

I made an 8.5" x 11" scrapbook of our family. As an avid scrapbooker, I thought this task would be a no-brainer; but it turned out to be very difficult for me. I wanted to make sure that I presented our family accurately and in a good light. I started with a pic of us on the cover then did one page for each member of our family, including the dog. On each page, I included a photo and a couple short paragraphs about each of us. Nothing too detailed, though. There is a page with the story of how DH and I met, a page with pics of our home (just the front and back - no interior), two page spread of various other family membera (parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc.) . Again, I included a brief story about our larger family. There is a page about our faith - what we believe as Christians. I included a page with pictures of toys/items from our childhood that we planned to pass down to our child. The last page of our scrapbook is a blank adoption announcement. KeeKee and Adoptingmomma, I would be willing to share our book with you privately. Please PM me if you are interested.
