TPR tomorrow - please pray

We go to court tomorrow for TPR. Birth mom has threatened to show up with a "dad."

The adoption worker and others involved in the case feel birth mom was just talking and because she just had baby number 12 that she more than likely will be laying low so DCF won't take the newest baby.

I also talked to one of her children's father and he told me that birth mom hadn't been inside the courtroom since 3 babies ago when the judge ordered her to have her tubes tied. Occasionally she goes to court and waits in the waiting area but does not go inside the courtroom. I imagine she goes to talk to her lawyer, perhaps, I don't know.

The baby has been in care going on 13 months and birth mom has since her twice. Once when the baby was in care 5 months. And once when the baby was in care 9 months. This second visit she was over an hour late. To my knowledge she hasn't worked any of her case plan.

I guess what is causing me some concern is that I'm the first non-family member/family friend to adopt one of her children. She has access to all of her other children, mine would be the first one she wouldn't.

Plus there is always that unknown factor called the judge. I will be so glad when I hear from the baby's lawyer, hopefully tomorrow after court. I don't think my heart could wait to hear from her on Friday.

12? That is so sad.

I'm hoping that your baby gets to stay with you. Good luck.

12? Unreal isn't it with all those trying so hard to conceive.

I love, LOVE, love that the judge ordered her to have her tubes tied. Guess they couldn't uphold that though huh?? Oh, if we could........

Will be saying a prayer for you. Sounds like you have nothing to worry about but that is easier said than done. Let us know when you hear something.

Yes, 12. 11 are living.

I love that the judge ordered her to get her tubes tied! I believe he or she is the judge on all 3 of her current open cases. I'm thinking the judge doesn't want the war that would start if he or she tried to enforce that order so he or she isn't looking for birth mom. And birth mom wisely is not taking any chances by going before the judge again because who knows what the judge might do. I wish more judges would be bold!

Thank you all for your prayers.

Praying all goes well in your favor, if the Lord is for it, then no one 'not anyone' can be against it...

For you are the joy that my soul longs for
The lamb that was slain for my sins and the One I adore
King of kings, Ruler of everything
Hosanna forever we worship You
Hosanna forever we worship You

For your patience and kindness
And favor and mercy
And honor and glory
Because you are worthy
We can't live without You
We can't breathe without You
We can't sing without You
Hosanna Hosanna

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement. Rowan was truly been blessed with a good lawyer. She kindly emailed me back and told me Rowan's birth mother's lawyer contested the TPR. But as always God was merciful as always and the judge set the hearing for May 28th.

The birth mother's lawyer has to prove that Rowan will be scarred emotionally and psychologically if her bond/relationship with her birth mother is broken via the termination of parental rights. Rowan's lawyer and my SW both assured me that the birth mother's lawyer would not be able to prove his or her case when it took birth mom 5 1/2 months to visit Rowan after she was taken into custody. And her second visit was 4 months after that. And both visits only happening after Rowan was moved to an adoptive home.

I've been told that contesting TPR is the new thing lawyers due. My SW says it happens in about 90 - 95% of all cases. This sure wasn't the case when I adopted Jory. The adoption supervisor told me that she likes to think the birth parents' lawyers contest so the birth parents won't appeal when their rights have been terminated; but part of her wonders if the lawyers contest so they can bill the state aka tax payers more hours. I'll see the glass half-full in this case and believe the birth mother's lawyer did this so birth mom won't appeal.

So here we continue on trusting, believing, and ever so grateful that God is still God. (That is so my new mantra.) God is still God and He loves me and my children more than our brains could ever understand and more than our hearts could handle and who only and truly wants what's best for us. How can I argue with the omni-omni?

"I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalms 34:1-4

Beautifully said!!! I am going to borrow that one for sure!

I love that you are already thanking and praising God for His goodness and mercy. He will bring things around to where they need to be.

Update

Take me past the outer courts
Into the Holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see Your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing Your praise
I hunger and thirst for Your righteousness
And it's only found one place
Take me in to the Holy of Holies
Take me in by the blood of the Lamb
Take me in to the Holy of Holies
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am

Only in the world of adoption could one become excited when you find out your child is a legal orphan thus eligible to be adopted. PRAISE GOD, ROWAN IS A LEGAL ORPHAN!!!

We pray that August 28th comes quickly, then we'll really be free. But this freedom right here feels pretty good.

Thank you all for your continuous prayers and words of encouragement and support. I truly appreciate them.
