Looking for prayer, very new at this.

Well I am just looking for some prayer. We have just applied to our agency. This is brand new to both of us. We don't have children, we've never adopted, and I'm so nervous I could puke. I've longed for a child and prayed for a miracle. I hope this is God's answer. We're sort of stepping out on faith, we have saved about 1/2 of the money, but we will be seeking God's will and direction for the other 1/2. He fed 5,000 with just a couple fish and some bread so he can certainly help us. I just am a ball of nerves, longing for my child. Any support, advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Normally I'm strong, but this is the mos out of control of the situation I can be. Not my comfort zone- but great results.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6

Welcome to the forums!

I will definitely pray for you!

Hang in there. We got a credit card with 0% interest and then used our income tax return to pay that off before interest started (It was interest free for 18 months).

that sounds like an intersting idea...
I'm always wondering "how do all of these people pay for this?" some people who have adopted 2-3 times, how is it done? we were given a list estimated about $18,000. that is a lot of money! seems unfair, but if it were free, everyone would try I guess. Thanks for the prayer.

Hi,
I will definately pray for you as well. I remember being in the same position as you not that many years ago. My husband and I had tried for it seemed a long time to have a family and finally started looking at adoption. We felt God tugging at our hearts and after so much research we knew God was telling us our family would be found in Guatemala. We were so filled with the same questions, fears, you name it we had it. We saved part of it but through all it we didn't know how but we knew God would somehow provide and boy I have to tell you looking back at the past couple of years I don't know how He did it I just know He did. Well fast forward to today my princess is 4 (today is her birthday) and an absolute joy (and not just when she is sleeping) and my prince just turned 2 in December (and he has the same birthday as his daddy) Talk about God's timing and providence. I won't bore you with that story. Feel free to pm me anytime and know with all the ups and downs it is so worth it in the end.

Julie (proud mom to a princess and a prince)

Hi!
I understand completely! My husband and I went down the fertility road for awhile before deciding that it wasn't God's plan for us. We then pursued adoption through foster care due to the cost. Our little miracle came home at 1 day old and just 1 week after we were officially certified to accept children. We adopted him exactly 6 months later. He is now 14 months old and the joy of my life. One thing that we realized through this process is that whether you pursue a private agency or foster care you have to completely trust God's plan for you. It is such a huge rollercoaster with waiting and waiting and then at the last minute things could change (especially for infant adoption). Just trust that God has a plan for you. My biggest advice....PRAY SPECIFICALLY to God for what you desire. I felt God calling me to be specific in my prayers so one night I finally listened and guess what....my little miracle was born the next day!! He hears our prayers! You'll be in my prayers!

Mandy

I have adopted twice so far. I didn't do it debt free, but I did pay off my debt within 2 years both times. We had to make sacrifices, but having my beautiful boys is well worth every non-necessity we did w/o.

It really does take a leap of faith!

Psalms 139:16 says "your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in you book before one of them came to be."

I love that verse because to me its a reminder that the Lord has a plan for my life and he is in complete control! All my days were planned even before I was born. I truly believe the Lord planned for me to have a family through adoption.

My DH and I took a home equity loan for the bulk of our expences.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Sheila

After waiting 2 years for our daughter we realized that God was doing the final touches on our relationship before she was to come into our lives. When she was born we both felt it was well worth the wait. Everything in His time! I will pray for you. Sonja

I will pray for your family.
The Lord will give you the desires of your heart if you are faithful to him, I truly believe that!
Cast your cares upon Him and He will supply all your needs!
God Bless you and your family!

i think it is interesting to hear everyone wondering how they will pay for adoption when adopting through foster care is free. and actually, they pay you! just a thought, it isn't as bad as people think. and christian homes are truly needed. pm me for more information.

I would like to share that on Feb 4th we got the 'call' everything sounded great but the fees and PBM expenses were outside our budget. Yet it felt right...we prayed and I kid you not the next day the agency lowered their fee by $6000 for this particular situation, also a 'gift' came form an unexpected source.....
When the situation is right anything can happen...pray for a miracle, it really does work....
