Thought for the day.
I thought I would try a thought for the day thread. I invite everyone to post their thought/verse for the day!
Today, my verse is Phil 4: 13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I need this one today. |

This verse is always encouraging, but we had one period of time where I was very overwhelmed with our circumstances and this verse became the one focal point that I could concentrate on each day.
My mother had died 6 months previously, my sister was dx'd with breast cancer the day before my mom's funeral, a month after mom died, my grandmother had died. We had 3 children of our own, 2 with special needs. We were fostering 2 children who had been severely neglected and had major developmental delays as well as attachment problems. We were caring for my grandfather while my sister, who normally cares for my grandfather, was having radiation treatments for her cancer. Needless to say, every morning I dreaded getting up! There was just no way I could continue on...in my own strength, anyway. I clung to this verse like a barnacle! Things levelled off; I requested that the foster kids be moved, my sister came back from cancer treatment and my grandfather went home...so things DID get better. Eventually. But I know I would have had a nervous breakdown (literally) if God had not sustained me, as He always does, of course! This has remained one of my favorite verses, particularly as it was from one of my mom's favorite books in the Bible.

My heart verse for the past few weeks has been:
Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." It's a good reminder for me because I tend to get so caught up in the busy-ness of every day that I forget to be quiet and focus on the fact that God is God - and I'm not! My sister gave me a beautiful silver bracelet for my birthday with the first part "Be still and know that I am God" engraved on it. I just LOVE it!

I agree Michelle, that one was needed today by me, too!
Barksum, I am glad you made it through that difficult time. God does carry us through when we think we can't even make it one more second, doesn't He? Happytwins, what a lovely gift your sister gave you! I have always loved that verse, as well. |

Proverbs 15:1 , "A soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger."
Lord, help me to keep my words soft today! |

Wednesday 6/13
Phillipians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say rejoice."
I think one of the keys in the verse, for me, is always. I need to always rejoice in the Lord. Even when my boys are and I'm feeling a bit . I need to always rejoice in the Lord. |

Today's verse needed much
Today has been a day of testing, so I pulled out "Praying God's Word" by Beth Moore first thing, and I am chewing on this one...
You have a plan for me that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived. Your Spirit reveals this awesome plan to those who love you. (1 Cor. 2:9) Memorizing this verse will help me to remember His will for my (& our) life, and be able to overcome the daily assaults and barricades that come my way. ![]() |

Thanks for sharing that mama_again. Yes, memorizing verses does help us. It arms us against the woes of the world.
I hope you have a blessed day. You're in my prayers. |

Thought/verse for 6/14/07
Psalm 71:1 (NAS) In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed."
I do take refuge in my Lord and Saviour. I found htis verse a good reminder of that. He is our rock, our refuge, our strength. |

The Lord takes delight in His children!
Good Morning Ani and all.....
Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing." This is comforting for His children... PS: Something to dance & sing about, we have a new grandson, yes parents to a newborn and another grandchild, weighin in at 9lbs... WOHOOO - God is good!!! |
