I think I missed yesterday. I'm sorry, I just keep forgetting to post a verse or thought for the day!

Today, my thought is a hymnal. i won't post all the verses, just some. I needed this reminder today as I kept losing my patience and had to keep a check on my temper.

Angry Words by H.R. Palmer

Angry words, o let them never, from the tongue, unbridled slip. May the heart's best impulse ever check them ere they soil the lip.

That is the part of the song that ran through my head over and over today! Along with Proverbs 15:1.

Today, I am just going to share my thoughts. I do like to have a scripture each day, but today, I'm just gonna think out loud, so to speak!

We have had such a busy day today. We had to be at friend's house this morning and they live out of town. Then we had two bday parties this afternoon. Now dh has gone to pick up some bunkbeds. We're borrowing some some friends have in storage until his dad can build the ones we want for the boys.

With all the rushing around and excitement of the day, and of the week, and really of the summer, I think I need to remember to take quiet time each day. We do read our Bibles everyday and pray every day. However, I don't always take that quiet time with God that I need.

So tonight, I am going to just slow down and have some alone time with God. Refuel my soul.

Good reminder, Bajj. This summer has been a whirlwind so far...and I think my mind got left back somewhere in the first week of June! WHAT HAPPENED?! So now we are in the thick of things and it is as though we are on a long downhill run; lots of excitement with the wind rushing through our hair, but there is just so much to DO! LOL

Quiet time sounds like a needed and planned event in the schedule right about now!

Matthew 6:29-20
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

This is so true. Oftentimes we, I think particularly in America and other "rich" nations, tend to think about what all we want. What more we can get. Well, does it matter what all we have here on earth? Does it matter if I have a huge house and 20 cars, if my kids and I don't make it to Heaven?

Remember where our hearts should be. Let's all try to focus on that, I know it helps me!

Bajj - I just saw this and went to the thought for today...wierd as I'm deciding on SAH or not...and if I SAH we wouldn't "have" as much...but I know we would "HAVE" more because I would have more time to STOP and enjoy what the Lord gave me...

Sometimes it's trusting Him that's hard.....

Definetely makes me think even harder!! thank you for this!!

Ecc 3:1-8 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—
A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.

Thanks Crick, for talking about this being one of your favorite passages! It give me the idea to use it in this thread.

Any thoughts on it?

Mark 4:38 - 41 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they *woke Him and *said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

The One who can quiet the wind and the sea, can quiet our jumbled thoughts and troubles, too. I am trying today to be still, and know that He is here and will help guide us. Dh and I have some huge decisions facing us, and we are leaning heavily on the One who can still the waters.

This morning's sermon was so refreshing for me.

He talked about turning the other check, and vengenance, and justice.

We tend to want to seek revenge, in the name of justice at times, don't we? Someone cuts us off on the road and we might honk our horn. It's one thing if they're about to hit us and we're warning that we're here, but quite another thing if we do it out of anger.

He told about a preacher one time who made someone so mad, by telling him the truth, that the man punched him hard enough that he fell. This man just got up and literally did turn his other cheek.

It shocked the offended one so much that he went home and studied. Later he came back and is now a Christian.

We never know who is watching us or why. We need to always remember to behave as Christians.

Such a hard thing to remember at times, isn't it?

Any thoughts on the subject?

This is a good one for me this morning, I was reminded that we need to look to God's merit and not man. Had a thing happen that I was reminded of not holding onto anything negative. It breeds Yucky stuff, right thinkin instead of stinking thinkin. Thanks for sharing this one...
Oh, years ago heard a pastor say when cut off in traffic; Jesus loves you and I am trying really hard!

Today I want to challenge you. Read John 8:1-12 (or the whole chapter if you prefer).

Jesus is teaching when the scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman caught in the act of adultery. They want to stone her and challenge Jesus. I love when he says, "He who is without sing among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." They all leave!

Jesus is left alone with the woman and tells her to go and sin no more. He does not condemn her.

Does this mean he approved of her life style? NO, he said go and sin no more.

What I want to challenge you on is to think a little outside the box. Outside our comfort zones. When we see people enter "our" church building in rags, and they are filthy and dirty. Do we want them to leave? Do we ignore them and pretend they are not there and hope they disappear? We should go and welcome them.

When we know someone has sinned, should we automatically kick them out and "condemn" them? No, I think we need to show compassion and help them (if they choose to accept help) to repent. We should show them love and be there for them.

Any thoughts on this passage?

Awesome passage and thoughts...
The thing that comes to me when I see things like even those who not only in appearance but in heart have anger and bitterness, I am constantly reminded of the compassion Christ had when He saw the multitudes, and how He did not judge them, He was just moved with compassion, broken over their sin.
Seeing through the eyes of Christ is so hard, but is necessary to reach the lost. We lack character if we condemn those less fortunate or even those who do not meet our expectations. God looks on the heart and He is watching our heart big time.
Sometimes that log hurts bad, but it must be removed in order to see.
