Why don't they come over??
On the Guatemala forum there are a lot of people who speak of God, Christ, praying, etc. Just wondering why they don't come over much. Why is there so little activity over here on the christian forum? Here it can be days with no questions and no answers. Any thoughts?

I have been trying to post over here more often. Maybe people don't realize that this group exists? I would love if this forum was more active...

I would like to see it more active too. I'm going to do my best to start participating more here too!

Lots of people search by "new" posts and never really go into any places that don't appear there...so unless new threads are started, it could be weekd before anyone meanders this way. (I'm guilty!)
One suggestion could be for someone to volunteer as a forum host. That person then tries their best to keep the forum going with new threads. It keeps it active and on the "new posts" board while people get used to coming over here regularly.

Okay, I'll bite.
I am an outspoken Christian but I usually stay away from Christian forums for a couple of reasons. 1. People wander in and ask a question and instead of answering, others post two pages of scripture and only speak to them in King James English. 2. People want to fight about doctrine. I've been thinking about visiting more often so maybe I'll start dropping by and see how youall get along.

My two cents, as a sometime lurker and having never posted on this specific group - Christianity is most likely the predominant religion here on the boards (just going by percentages in the USA), and its just not something that I'm concerned about having in common with other adoptive parents (Yes, I'm Christian). It helps me to hear about what all types of people are going through with domestic adoption, or if I were doing Guatemala I'd probably post mostly on that board. Its nice when people mention God or prayers on all boards, but I'd be hard pressed to think of something adoption related that was specifically a Christian only question. JMHO

Lurker
Hey there, I stop here and look around. I dont think I have posted before here, but I read. To tell you the truth, I am guilty for heading straight to the Guat forum and sometimes Ethiopia. I dont know why exactly, but I have come by here now two days in a row. I guess you planted a seed.

I prefer the Guatemala forum because it is so active. I don't usually post here because I found that Christian means different things to different people. Some people don't believe in an absolute; they have more of a I'm okay, you're okay mentality. And if you take a stance on an issue (even in Christian circles) you may be labeled "phobic" or "intolerant" when it really comes down to more of a morality issue.
But like a previous poster, my faith is not something that I'm too concerned discussing with other adoptive parents. It's nice sometimes, but kids are kids. And the issue involved with parenting are usually universal. Good question, though. It's interesting to hear what others have to say.

until several weeks ago. I have since enjoyed lurking and posting a few times. I am very new here and have never been a member of any other forum before. So, I thought it was ok to just reply honestly. I have not had any bad comments about my posts, but I am starting to wonder about sharing my faith in other forum areas on here. My faith is part of my daily life, I speak of it frequently. But after reading many threads and posts, I now I worry that I am offending others in other areas. Does that make sense? Is it ok to say that you are trusting in the Lord to bring the right children to your family? I find myself second guessing the posts I do write, and re-reading them several times. If I go to the Texas Foster Forum, can I talk about my faith and how it has played a part? I know that sounds like a stupid question. But what are the unwritten rules? I would never try to "convert" anyone or argue a point, but just say what my life and experience has been like. If God is part of my daily walk, it is difficult not to include him in everything.
Sorry so long, Melissa ![]()

I haven't been here for many of the reasons listed above. I check new posts, I see no activity, I'm probably one of those who post 2 pages of scripture--lol, but not in the KJV--hehehe.
I actually found this thread very relevant as a Christian earlier on when it was more active. I wanted to talk with other believers that could give me a Christian insight into my journey. I got a lot of great advice on what areas to pray and about God's timeing. There are those who pop in though wanting to debate many of us that are not believers and it makes it hard to discuss certain things. I think many people say they pray and "God Bless" that aren't Christian too. There are some that call themselves Christians but don't believe in who Jesus is or the bible. So seeing a Christian forum sadly hasn't meant to me what it once did. MJ

I'm glad to be here!
Hi! I'm glad to have found this site! There certainly is something to be found on a Christian adoptive parent board that is not necessarily on the other adoption boards. That is CHRIST! It feels very freeing to me to be able to give glory to Him, ask for prayers for my adoption and have community with others whom desire to adopt, have adopted and want to apply a christian perspective to parenting. I believe that is why this board is called Christian adoptive parents. Some people truly feel that the notion and deep desire to adopt was a seed planted by God.
I'd like to share my poem written to my hopeful adopted child two Christmas' ago by mom (me) A miracle born in my heart so many years ago A seed placed there by the hand of God until it's time to grow. And now as I wait to bring you home, I hope that you will know, the seed is growing every day, deep within my soul. The water is my prayers for you, each and every night. The sun is my day long thoughts of you and hope that you're alright. The food is my heart's desire for you and the day I'll hold you tight..... I love you precious child of mine, thank God for all His might. Mom, 2003 I sure hope to have her/him home this Christmas! Blessings to all Maria |

hi!
i guess the reason i choose to stay mainly on the guat. board, is that when i come to this forum (im here a LOT! )im interested in the FACTS about my forum friends lives, some cases that are dragging on forever, the new pgn 'rules', waits on bc, and pink, how my old friends' kids are doing, and any new 'adoption related' topics that come up. i also check the 'new posts' sections each evening for a variety of the same reasons. so, overall, it's a social, & informative need that i have here, and the current guat board (and some others) meet that need. cris...hope this helps. pm me if you'd like. best wishes on 'activating' this board if your considering doing so.

Thank you so much for sharing your poem. It was precious and I agree with what you say that it feels good to know that you are going to post in a place in which you can glorify Christ. I think Alex started a thread last week posing the question why do Christians get picked on. I agree with her. It is almost like we are the free punching bag. I love watching Saturday Night Live (not sure if I am allowed to type a shows name so if not someone please delete that out) but lately I can't even watch because each show belittles Christians and not in a joking way as they may do a skit with someone with an alternative life style but in a way that almost makes us sound ignorant. I like knowing that I can come hear and post praising God and know that others will join me in that praise! Now, that is not to say I don't go to other forums. I often post on the Guate forum because you do seem to get general parenting and adoption questions answered quicker and with many more responses but I find comfort and peace with this forum. r
