My husband and I attended a Bethany Christian Services adoption meeting today. I was very impressed, but my husband has some fears. I believe in God with my whole heart. I feel he brought my husband into my life for a reason...we belong together. My late father even prayed with me after my first date with my now husband. He is currently having some faith issues. Before we met, he really didn't think about God...didn't believe but didn't not believe either..if that makes sense. My father, before he died, would talk about the Lord every opportunity he got. My husband started going to church with me, even reading his bible. Recently he is just not sure anymore what he believes in. My family and I are praying for God to talk to his heart.
He was also impressed with Bethany, but is worried about the Christian aspect of it. That he won't have the perfect answer about his faith when asked by the social worker. My question (sorry it took so long to get to it! ) is will his uncertainty cause us problems in adopting? I plan on making God known to our future children...through actions and sunday school. He has no problem with that. Thanks so much for any help you can give us! God Bless!! |

I don't think that a difference of religous beliefs are going to matter that much to the BCS but it may to the pbmom. But don't worry just speak the truth and let your story out there. During our homestudy our SW asked some ?'s about our religon But she really put as much importance to where we grew up! A major thing to work on is hwo you will comprimise and how you will address any issues that involve your children
Always remember God works in his own time NOT ours! As hard as it is for me to except LOL. I'll be praying for you and your Dh. And God bless your future. And as for your DH some time you just gotta leave the ones you love in Gods hands. Crystal |

The agency just wants to get an accurate profile of you. It is not a judgement so don't feel quilty (althought it's hard not to). Be honest about how often you attend church. Sometimes the birthmother/parents are not religious. If you are impressed with the agency you should go with it.
