New to site and the Adoption process... Need help from y'all (The experts)
We are a military family living in Northern VA and we are trying to adopt a Child out of the Fostercare system in NJ. I know, don't even look at the children on the photolist until you have a homestudy done, but oops, I did and I fell in Love. I have contacted the NJ foster care system to aquire about what steps I must take to start the adoption proceedings for C and they said "send us a copy of your home study, he is still available", Thank the Lord... So I am calling all over northern VA to find out how to get a homestudy done, and I have been getting the run around. I think I made the mistake of telling them I am persuing a child in NJ. maybe they won't want to help me because I am not persuing a N. VA child, but they are all in the same situation and placement of any child should be a blessing to all. The placement should be the issue not where the child lives! Anyway please if there are any adoptive parents or specialists from the VA area that can help please do. I have been praying about the situation and I know God has sent me to this site and someone will read this and know the answers we need. Also I need prayer for continued strength and hope for this situation as the NJ Foster care person tried to break it to me easy that this boy need lots of help... I just know that God has given me the endurance and hope that "through Him ALL things are possible" Thanks in advance and I love you all for your hearts and love in Christ... C |

Home Study
HI,
I haven't started my homestudy yet (still trying to figure out if this is God's will for me as a single Christian woman) but I have done some investigating about homestudies in VA, because I live in Richmond. Anyway, I know that a number of agencies perform homestudies in VA. Actually, I looked in the phone book and saw many. There are also websites, but it may just be easier to pick up the phone and call. You could also do a web search using the words 'adoption homestudies virginia', which is what I've done.Nancy |

Thanks
Nancy,
Thank you so much for your reply and assistance. I have looked in the phone book and internet, but every call I make I get the run around. But I know God will direct my path and the right person will come my way. Also I just found out that a member of my church just adopted 3 boys from foster care, so she will surely be a wealth of information. Thanks for caring and I will pray for God to reveal His plan for you! Peace and Joy, Chris in (Gainesville) |

Praying
Hi, Chris,
I also wonder what would happen if you asked the NJ agency that has the child you are interested in for suggestions. I am praying God will make clear what you are to do! In Christ, Nancy [Edited To Remove Agency/Facilitator/fee based services Recommendations or comments] Please remember that comments about agencies or other fee based services made after 2/10/2004 MUST be made via Private Message. |
