Lightbulb The power of prayer

I just wanted to tell my Christian brothers and sisters, as if you don't already know it, that PRAYER WORKS!!

My wife and I have prayed every single day since before we even started this process that the Lord would lead us to the child that He has already chosen for us, and that He will help us provide the finances to make this a reality. Every day we've prayed this, and we will continue to pray this. After we get our little girl, we will pray that the Lord guide us and show us how to be the best parents we can be.

Anyway, last week, I got my job review and got a VERY generous raise, much more than I could ever imagine. The very same day, my wife also got an even higher raise. This is the work of the Lord, because we were both told on numerous occasions that employees would not be getting merit increases this year where we work.

And we got the news on the same day.

This won't totally pay for our adoption, but, as I told my wife, I could almost hear his voice saying "trust me, and lean not unto your own understanding".

Michael,

Don't you just love it when God does things like that. It makes you feel like your walking on a cloud. Congratulations, by the way.

Keep praying-Denise

That is so wonderful! I know my husband and I have been stepping out in faith lately with our tithes and the Lord has been so faithful! We were running about $50 short after I tithed off of my paycheck last week and the next morning when my husband picked up his-it was exactly $50 more than he normally takes home! God is good-I am very excited for you as you start this wonderful journey! Best wishes-Sarah(mom of 2)

I love it too when God is gracious in allowing us to see He is working. What a great testimony. Thanks for sharing. I sure could use a boost in my faith lately

Great!

I'm so thrilled for you and your wife! My husband recently received a raise as well, and we praise God for that blessing...

I have a personal beef with the "power of prayer" statement. Nothing we do (including prayer) will make God give us what we desperately desire. (You probably didn't mean it that way... this is just me personally).

My favorite version of that statement came from a devotional I did a few months ago, "I do not believe in the power of prayer... I believe in a powerful and almightly God. Therefore, I pray."

Thanks for sharing! Blessings to you and your family!

Stella

True, Stella. God is not Santa Claus. I guess I am guilty of using popular phrases without being really sensitive to what they could really potentially mean.

Thank you for pointing that out.

I agree God is good!!

What an awsome testimony. The way God works is awsome. Let me share my testimony with you. I will keep it brief. I have been thinking about adoption for 3 years. I was in debt and knew that I could not afford a child. I prayed that the Lord reveal to me if it was really His will for me to adopt, especially being single. When I put in my application to the agency and mailed in my application fee, I focused on my finances and called the Social Worker and told her I couldn't do it at that time. Now that was a year and a half ago. Shortly ater that, the Social Worker saw me at a conference and told me to begin the process now because it takes time. I was still a little reluctant because of my finances, but in my heart I wanted to do it. After I went to orientation, this is when God showed my it was His will and made a way. I had a flood in my home, I received extra money to pay for part of the homestudy. That was God. I had a car accident and the money for my totaled car payed for the part of the adoption. That was God. I settled months later on my accident case and that payed for the rest of the adoption and money for me to stay home for 8 weeks with my child. That was God. And I was able to re-finance my home and I"m debt free. Now that all is God. I have NO doubt in my mind that I have the Lord's blessing. It was just like watching Him pour money out of the sky to take care of me and my child to be. NOw I'm just waiting for the right child in God's time. So, I understand how you feel. My prayers are with you.
