michael reagan

anyone watch the michael reagan speech last night? i thought it was incredibly touching... not only because of what he said about his dad never making him feel adopted, but because of what he said about Ronald's faith in Jesus Christ and how he passed that faith onto his son.

i was very moved by the whole thing.

Amazing!

Hi Krista,

Yes, I watched most of his speech last night, but I had missed the beginning.

Today I saw and heard the whole thing. His words were genuine and beautiful. They gave me a selfish peaceful moment, in which I prayed that my birthson's life has been so complete. I was particularly moved by his words about when the one family became two families, and how his father did not leave the first. I was truly amazed. I wonder if he realizes how inspiring his words were to the adoption community!
Peace,
LeeAnn

Hi!
Yes, I heard all three of President Reagan's children's speeches, but I thought Michael's was awesome.

I loved his speech!! I didn't like Ron Reagan using the platform to get his little digs in about George W Bush...but oh well. I had heard Michael Reagan on James Dobson's show last fall talking about his dad and all that he(Michael) has overcome with his wife's unfailing love and support and of course with the help of our wonderful Lord and Savior! Very encouraging and inspiring to say the least! Best Wishes-Sarah(mom of 2)

Michael

What a tribute to a great, kind and compassionate man. Did anyone know he was adopted prior to this speach?

I can only hope my son has such nice things to say about me someday. I also hope that my marriage remains as strong as his and Nancy's for over 50 years. What a great place this world would be if everyone was so blessed.

We saw his speech and were more touched by his beautiful and obviously heartfelt words than by the other two children. He seemed more heartbroken and devastated by the loss of his father than Ron or Patty. Maybe that's just an outsider's perspective but that's what we got from watching the proceedings.
Also, did anyone notice that he seemed to be left out or at the edges of the scenes whenever they showed Nancy Reagan and the children? It was a little disturbing to me but I hope it was because he didn't want the spotlight and not because they pushed him out as the "adopted" son.

yes, but i think a lot of that had to do with the fact that he is not nancy's son and ron and patty are her kids. its kind of natural that they would be around their mom more, since michael is her step-son.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. I'll have to share that with my husband. That puts things into a different perspective. Thanks for sharing!

Yes! My husband and I watched it (I am guessing you mean the day of the funeral). We were well aware of Michael Reagan being a believer, and that his father had come to saving grace as a child. We are avid readers of a conservative news website (I don't think I am allowed to share it here, so PM me if you want to know) that Michael Reagan reports for. They were broadcasting much info and news stories concerning President Reagan's death and funeral.

I understand that Michael had a sister named Maureen (who died from cancer years ago), and they were from the marriage to Jane Wyman, prior to the marriage to Nancy Reagan. Therefore, I think that's why the press hardly spent any time showing Michael Reagan. It really was the press doing that, and not the Reagan family. They were only being filmed, at the funeral. I was very disappointed by that.

We were very glad to hear Michael's rememberances of his father, which seemed to revolve around his father's faith in God. He nearly gave the gospel message, right there! Praise the Lord!
