Smile The Prayer of Jabez

The Prayer of Jabez

Oh that You would Bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain...

I try to pray this everyday, and since Jill posted the prayer chain, then the Lord layed it on my heart to post this. So I thought I would start a new Thread. So come on everybody pray it with me. It really does work.

Amen!!!! It does work. I say it everyday. God is going to bless. I also want to challenge anyone who hasn't read the book to do it as a New years resolution. I think it would be great if people would write in and let everyone know how God has blessed them and expanded their territory.

Along those same "enlarge my territories" line, I heard Nancy Leigh DeMoss speak about the blessing single women can be, and the verse she read just is so wonderful. I think of all the women out there who've struggled with infertility as I read this verse:

"Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor. Because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband, says the Lord. So enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes...for your Maker is your husband-the Lord Almighty is His name!" Isaiah 54

I take from this verse that we're to expect great things to happen when we step out in faith. He's able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think! Praise God!

Blessings!
Kay

Our small group within the congregation was studying this book in mid-2001. What it did for me was give me permission to ASK God for what I wanted and it helped me to ACCEPT what God wanted me to do. It really opened my heart to trust the Lord.

Once you are trusting the Lord more fully, He will test you! We were foster parents at the time and He blessed us with a wonderful 10 year old foster daughter. After she returned to her biological family, we got a call for 4 siblings. We said yes. We had hoped that they would be our forever children, but after 17 days an aunt came forward and they went to live with her. The following month we got a call about 2 siblings. We said yes. The following week we got a call about 2 more siblings. We said yes to them as well. Both sibling groups were supposed to be going home. As fate (God) would have it though, both groups became available and we adopted them. We now have SIX wonderful children and are blessed beyond belief.

Yes, God has enlarged our territory!

We read the Prayer of Jabez book and it was awesome. But I advise any body NOT wanting to "enlarge their territory" not to pray that prayer.
It works. The Lord will take your prayer and do unbelievable things in your life. Be prepared.

Thanks to everyone who has written in. The prayer of Jabez also worked for us. It is such a blessing to see how God uses this simple prayer.

I also LOVED reading the book...

One thing I would guard against is the "name it and claim it" or "health and wealth" perspective while reading this book. The book/prayer isn't about enlarging territory in the areas we want... It's about allowing God to open up the territories He KNOWS we can handle.

God may indeed intend to bless us with our personal desires, but He may not! Continuing to focus on the gift He hasn't bestowed will blind you to ALL He is giving you right now. That's what I learned!

Blessings to all! And may the desires of our hearts align purely with His.

Stella

Thank you so much for putting that thread up. I love Jesus too. Check out my user name. I picked it because as an adoptee and for other reasons I have felt like jabez. Also I beleive he had much faith when he prayed that pray to God. Keep the faith. I'm searching for my brother, mother and son. Some search uh. But by faith I beleive that God will perform his perfect will whatever it may be.

I fully agree!!! Once we started praying this simple prayer, God has not only blessed us out of our socks, but He has also enlarged our territory enormously. I guess the ministry opportunities have always been there, but we never saw it. But since we have started asking God to enlarge our territory, the change in our lives have been awesome.

But the best of all is that we cannot stop asking God for His blessings, to enlarge our territory, to keep us from evil and to keep His hand over us.

God is an awesome God who have the best things planned for us!!!

Talking It Work's

Hey all,

Thanks for all of the post pertaining to the prayer of Jabez. I read the book about a year and half ago and prayed the prayer for along time. And then for some reason I stopped. I don't really know why. Busy and stuff I guess, you know how it is (which by the way is no excuse in the eyes of God). Anyway one of the other agents that I work with (the only other Holy Ghost filled Christian) gave me for CHRISTmas, The Prayer of Jabez for Women Book and a little book marker with the prayer on it that I have placed on my bathroom mirror. Now I pray it everyday when I am getting ready in the morning. I guess it was God saying wake and pray this and I will bless you again.
Anyway, now it is time to start telling what God is doing from your prayer. I will start :
#1. So far this year I have 2 houses under contract, set to close in March.
#2. We have been praying for dh to get a new job with better insurance benefits, And he did.... We got the call Tuesday they want him to start on Monday, and not only is he getting better insurance benefits, but he also is going from make $16.00 to making $20.00 a/h.
#3. Yes there is more. We got a call from our mortgage company yesterday and had put in a request to get our house payment lowered, because we were paying such a high medical insurance premium about $8,000 more than any year before. Anyway they did reduce our house payment by $100.00.
Now to most you that probably don't seem like much but to us it is the world. I am so excited about what God is doing. I Love him so MUCHHH

Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain....

Now it's your turn .......

All Boys,

That is so awsome. God works in so many wonderful ways. I have been praying the Jabez prayer and so far He has blessed me and my husband both physically. I say that because we started a diet and the results are unbelievable. We have both lost over twenty pounds!!!!! In a week and one day!!. God had really laid on our hearts something that was said in a different thread about the verse seek ye first the kindom of heaven and THEN things will be added. We realized that we had never actually given our physical bodies to CHRIST and that He wanted all of us in everyway and as far as our physical shape we had not been seeking HIS will or his kingdom ever. Anyway the part of the verse saying keep me from evil has a expanded meaning for both us now to keep us from the evil temptation of foods we shouldn't eat. Well that is it for me but it is hugh because neither of us have ever been on a diet with out cheating before. We are just so thankful. We always wanted to be good Christ like examples for our children and we have always known that our diet, eating habits and lack of exercise stopped it. I really feel like this is the start of something big or bet yet something thin.

THank you so much for posting the prayer of Jabez. I have not read the book but have been inspired now to do just that. I did print out the part you quoted and plan to keep it with me as a daily reminder.

Thanks so much!!

Hey tnewton,
I hope this is not an offense question, but are a christian? Just wondering. The prayer of Jabez is such a wonderful book. But like someone said before don't pray the prayed if you don't want things to happen. Sometimes we ask for things and we are not ready for them and if we are not ready for them, then things will not go the way that we want it to and we can't handle it. We have be ready for what God is going to give us through the prayer. And sometimes it might not be just what we want, but what we need or most of all what someone else needs.
So I encourage to read the book before you start to pray the prayer. You can get the book at your local christian book store, or at your local book store...
I will be praying for you to be blessed by it

As a bmom I once spoke to a group of adoption counselors about the feelings that birth mothers go through after placement. This was a church affilated counseling group and so my gift was the Prayer Of Jabez book!!! I love the prayer.....It spoke Volumes to Me!!!! It seems as if this book was given to me for a reason......Not long after I met my bdaughters amom she asked me if I had ever heard the prayer. There it was again......Wherever my feelings for my bdaughter where that prayer was not far behind!!! SO.....for Christmas this year I found a crystal Picture with what on it, but the Prayer Of Jabez. This was my gift to my Bdaughter's Aparents!!!! Needless to say.....this prayer speaks Volumes to Me!!!!!
