I just got off the phone with the mom of the guy my cousin is claiming to be the birthdad. I had to hunt this guy down on the internet because my cousin wouldn't give me more than his name, his mom's name and the fact that she didn't have the same last name as he because of remarrying.
Well, at first his mom said she didn't know of my cousin, but when I said they had apparently dated and more and she was claiming her son as the dad, she said she had heard rumors and that her son told her he was with my cousin, then broke up with her, and 3 months later, she told him she was 2 months pregnant with his baby. But that it could be his or another guys. His mom said he would call me tonight. I haven't been able to reach my aunt or my cousin since I talked to the guys mom....... this throws another wrench into this whole thing. I was so excited about all this, then she started missing appts, refusing to tell me where this guy lived or worked, and not wanting to move to our town full-time. She lives in another state and we need to her live here for legal issues. I know this is hard for her, I get the feeling she wants to crawl under a rock and make it all disappear, but it won't. She is due in 2 months, we think, her dates don't mesh with the ultrasounds and her measurements, so we don't really know when she will deliver. I am at my wits end. I am tired of the lies and deception and ready to tell her we can't adopt the baby, except that I really want this child, as much as I wanted my natural daughter. I am not sure what to do.....it comes down to morality more than anything I think....if I convince him to say he's the father, and sign away his rights, and he's not really the natural father, then the natural father can contest the adoption. But if there are more than one possiblity, then will we have to have DNA tests to determine paternity? Can we just have both guys sign away their rights? I am just sooooo frustrated with all this. Thanks for letting me vent! |

Katiesmom,
I'm sorry this is so hard for you and your family. All I can say or suggest is to keep praying. God knows the desires of your heart and He will fulfill them in His perfect timing. |
