Adoptees have walked the journey of adoption. Many can look back on their lives and reflect on the impact adoption has had on them. Most adult adoptees came from closed adoptions with its many challenges. As I have networked with many adoptees online I hear many say that if they had to chose- they would chose closed adoption with more openness, but not open adoptions with face to face visits during childhood. Of course, this is not the answer of all adoptees, but As I have asked this question I hear adoptees favoring closed adoptions in childhood with more openness, honesty and indirect communciation over open adoptions.
If you are an adoptee, share your experience and what you favor now that you have walked the journey through childhood. Thanks, Jody ![]()
