I bought the book, "The Purpose Driven Life", by Rick Warren today because our church is going to do an indepth study of it for the next six weeks. When I opened it up, it opened to a page that had a poem on it that I found very appropriate and touching to me, and I thought I would share it....
There was no title on the poem, but the author is Russell Kelfer. You are who you are for a reason. You are part of an intense plan. You're a precious and perfect unique design, Called God's special woman or man. You look like you look for a reason. Our God made no mistake. He knit you together within the womb, You're just what He wanted to make. The parents you have are the ones He chose, And no matter how you may feel, They were custom-designed with God's Plan in mind, And they bear the Master's seal. No, the trauma you faced was not easy. And God wept that it hurt you so; But it was allowed to shape your heart So that into His likeness you'd grow. You are who you are for a reason, You've been formed by the Master's rod. You are who you are, beloved, Because there is a God.

Thanks for the poem, very fitting for adoptees
Thanks for sharing the poem from the book the Purpose Driven Life- it is a great one to remind of us of our Identity in Christ and that though our birth parents may not have had a plan for our lives after adoption, God surely did. We were adopted for His purposes as was Moses, Esther in the Scriptures! Thanks for pointing us to this poem! Jody

This is a great poem and very meaningful for adoptees especially sharing God's allowing the parents we were placed with in adoption. Hope others will find it encouraging!

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the poem and Alex Hayley quote. It's great to know that we are designed and loved by God and here for His purpose. I had been feeling that I was just the result of a relationship which should not have happened. Thanks again. Peggysue |

How did the study go? I know that when our church went over that it changed my life. While studying this book we felt called to be fosterparents - fastforward 3 years later - we now have adopted 2 beautiful sons through foster care.
