Hello Jody,
I finally figured out how to get registered, so I could post a message here! I'm on your Mailing List, AdopteesChristianFellowship, and this Message Board forum is new to me. I am a 48 year old Texas adoptee, and born again Christian. I was adopted when I was almost 2 years old along with my blood sister, who was about 1 year old. We were the youngest of the children born to this couple. All of our full blood siblings were adopted out to other adoptive families. It was hardest on our oldest brother who was torn away from his siblings when he was 12 years old. He and one brother and one sister were torn away from one sister at the children's home. She was just NOT there one day....he always felt "responsible" for not keeping all the children together. The state took all 8 children away from our birth parents. I waited until my adoptive father had passed away, and I was in my 30s to begin my search. I always had an underlying "need to know" about my birth and beginnings. More than 20 years ago, I was able to find and meet my birth parents (still together), a birth aunt, a birth grandmother and some cousins and get pictures. My birth father died the next year in a car crash while he was drunk. My birth mother has been in and out of institutions. Even though my birth family is not "pretty"....I will always be glad that I searched and found the answers. God put a passion for adoption searching in my heart after my own search. I have been doing volunteer adoption searching in Texas for more than 20 years. Thank you for your help to sooooooo many people in the adoption community!!!!! God bless, Mary J. in TX |

Welcome Mary to our forum!
Hi Mary- thanks for joining us here and forsharing your story!! Great to see you on this list- (Mary and I are on another adoptee list) Your story is similar to mine as I found my birth family after searching- my story revealed that my birth parents had a number of social problems and this caused my adoption they died before I met them but I met my 3 birthsisters. I too am SO thankful too knowing the truth of my birth , birth family and circumstances surrounding adoption. It has given me a passion also to help others- more on the emotional /spiritual aspects. Some wonderful people touched by adoption supported and guided me in my adoption search journey and I want to do the same to support others! Welcome Mary! Thanks for sharing here! Love Jody

Hi
I'm 18 and a freshman in college. I was adopted from birth and have the most wonderful parents, brother, and half sister. I have been blessed to grow up in a Christian home where my parents love the Lord and seek His guidance. I have always known that I was adopted because I was told from a young age. I am really interested in finding the names of my biological parents. I don't think that I am ready to contact them, I was just curious on their names. If you could help me any way that would be wonderful! I'm totally new at this and need the help In His grip forever Meganne ![]() |

Hi Meganne!
Hi from Jody a fellow adoptee! I am 47years old and am attending my 25 year college reunion in October but it seems like yesterday!! I, like you Meganne was raised in a very loving home and as you know I was blessed to have such a wonderful family. It is very normal to have questions and desires to know about our birth family- we have lived with that mystery all our lives and it is a good thing to find out truth. God gave me the verse in my adoption search "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" That has been so trur for me- I found my birth family 9 years ago- but my birth parents were already deceased ( I was in my late 30's) but met my 3 older birth sisters and they welcomed me. They gave me wonderful pictures of my birth parents- I look like my birth mom. Send me your e-mail address and I can send you some info on starting to search and know some lovely Christians who help people too and are honest!! So glad you shared here and hope you will write!!

Hi Jody,
I am a 39 year old child of adoption. One of my brothers and I were adopted by the same family. From the very begining we knew we were adopted and when I was about 15 we were told who our birth mother was. Imagine our surprise to find out that the nice lady we had always know was actually our birth mom. Our adopted parents had always taken us to visit her on holidays. My adopted mom was always sick and once she died my birth mom was there for me. She was there to help me thru my adopted fathers long illness and was there for me when my daughter was born. I was never able to call her MOM for some reason, but once my daughter was born 16 years ago she became "granny" to everyone. My birth mom passed away 3 years ago Dec 15. Just a couple of months after my daughter was born, I found out that besides the son my birth mom had kept, I also had another brother. I only found this out because he contacted my mom and wanted to meet us. Once she told me about this she told me that I also had a sister out there somewhere. I would love to find my sister if for no other reason than to inform her of the health issues that took our birth moms life. I don't want to disrupt her life, but there are things she needs to know for herself and for any children she may have. I have no idea where to start looking, but something told me at our church Christmas Eve candle light service last night that now is the time to start looking. I do remember a few things my birth mom told me about my sister, but even with this info I don't know where to start. I would really appreciate any help. My email address is Sandb@riolink.com. Love in Christ and many blessings, Sandi |

Hi Jody.......
Hi Jody, I am a 36 year old adult adoptee who is searching for my birthfamily. I have been searching on and off for about 18 years now, but nothing has come up. Through the years God has told me to be patient, and I have, but I can feel that some good information is coming my way. Anyway, I was born and adopted in Whitepalins, NY - and my family moved to sunny S. Florida when I was 7. My adoptive mother was wonderful, but she got Multiple Sclerosis when I was 11, and she struggled through the years with her disease, I thank God everyday for letting me be there for her, she passed away when I was 34, and it has been a big loss in my life. My adoptive father and sister still live in Florida and I live back in NY, I just like the seasons changes. I look forward to talking to other adoptees who are searching or have already found they're birethparents.

Hi VicRose From Jody
Thanks for posting Vicrose and glad you found this forum! You are at an exciting time in your adoption journey of search! Each clue and any information is one step closer- I have been reunited for 9 years to 3 sisters (one died since we found each other so that was a loss) My search took 2 and 1/2 years but during that time the Lord encouraged me and helped me to meet alot of others touched by adoption in local support groups. I also read alot about adoption search and reunion in books so that prepared me alot! I know own over 250 books in my adoption library- hope to have them housed in an adoption agency someday or somewhere where the public can access them!
See the post below yours and check out the Adoptee Fellowship Group- all Christians who share each day together their experiences, questions, concerns, prayers and I post a daily devotional- 88 on the list and some of the nicests people you would want to know! A great group! Blessings to you in your continued adoption journey and may God lead you soon to some answers and hopefully reunion!
