Okay, so I finished last year at a sad 30 books after a strong 54 the year before. But hey, I'm going to choose to blame that on my much busier job this year and that little wedding I was in....as a bride.

Hopefully I'm back in the saddle again this year - starting with...

I just finished Inheritance. It was good but so long. This is a little different from my normal stuff but came from a long tradition of reading what my son reads. When he was little he was reading above his age level so I read what he read so we could discuss it. He loves it and so every time he likes a book he tells me to read it, even though he is 18 now. Now I am reading a book called false accusation. It's a crime novel, can't remember who wrote it. I think it was one of my free kindle books. It's OK, not great, not bad.

I am almost finished Steve Jobs biography - can't seem to read the last couple of chapters because it will hit too close to home for me. Never was that interested in him or Apple but the entire book was really interesting even if it was long. It did make me feel totally challenged on all the different gadgets etc today and how behind I am there. It was good in being able to pick up and put down and not have to go back to remember - I am still challenged with some books and my memory.

Dickons, we're reading Steve Jobs biography as the next book in my office's book club. I've never been huge on Apple, but I work for a major cancer non-profit and we dealt a lot with his passing. Looking forward to reading it though.

Anyway, finished #2 - Amazon.com: When the Heart Cries (Sisters of the Quilt, Book 1) (9781400072927): Cindy Woodsmall: Books

It's got two more in the series which I'm looking forward to reading. It was a slow start, but it picked up towards the middle.

Love Karen Kingsbury, if you like her you will probably also like Lisa Wingate. (in the interest of full disclosure, she is my neighbor, but her books are awesome and a lot like Karen's) I just finished another crime novel and something called feathered that my daughter was reading and wanted me to read. Also read the newest Dean Koontz book.

I find myself falling behind on my reading - the only things I pick up are those for my Book Club.

1. Let's Take the Long Way Home: A Memoire by Gail Caldwell

Totally snoozeworthy. It's written about the friendship and ultimate death of the author's best friend. The only time I got emotional was when the author's dog was attacked by another dog.

2. Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo.

I have to say that although a couple of the people in my book club felt very moved by this book and fully believed, I did not. Although I have a very strong faith, I only believed about 5% of what the author relayed. Not saying it's not true, it just didn't "feel" right to me.


3. The Descendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings.

I loved this book. It's not, by any means, a classic or a spectacular read, but I felt that alot of the characters' reactions to some of the situations they found themselves in were pretty real, and several moments in the book really touched me.

Someone gave me A Discovery of Witches a few months ago (because I told them I liked the Twilight books ) Haven't read it yet, but am about to.

A friend/Coworker just gave me Tuesday Night Miracles by Kris Radish. I have not read any by this author, but my friend has read many of hers and really enjoys them.

Finally, I finished the Hunger Games trilogy a few weeks ago. I thought it was a really weird and dark premise when I heard about them, but once I started reading, I got hooked and could not put them down Happy reading!

I liked A Discovery of Witches way more then I liked the Twilight Saga. Couldn't finish those at all but found myself staying up late and almost being late for work to read Discovery.

4. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult - Columbine-esque story. Pretty good

5. Dark Lover - First book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward - Vampire book for adults. Eh. It was ok...unfortunately, I read the synopsis for the 8th book in the series, learned that something happened with one of the sub characters from book 1 and may have to read the others just to see. Sigh.

6, 7, 8 - The Hunger Games trilogy. Literally finished book three about 5 minutes ago. I still have tears in my eyes, lol. Great series!

I liked Nineteen Minutes. I also have a coworker who is reading the Black Dagger series (she is addicted!!!)
