I learned how to do needlepoint by buying a kit and following directions (Elizabeth Bradly).. then I went to a needlepoint wool store and started asking questions..

People love to give help.. I found..

Tara - it's another sirdar pattern, from their latest book. It has 3 colours of stripes and it's a pull over hoodie. He also wants a heart pocket on the front (one of the options) Sooo, if that's what he still wants when the time comes, it'll have a heart pocket on the front..LOL

Well - I'm happy to report I finished that sweater I started last week for M. I ended up doing a square pocket on the front (as opposed to a heart) as M has decided that square is now his favorite shape. It turned out quite cute, I found a sweet little wooly lamb button (wooden) for the front pocket. I'm blocking it right now, so when it's dry I'll get a pic and try to post it.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm having a (Canadian, eh!) friend knit me up some longies (cloth diapering) for Parker. She bought some super awesome dyed thread. She is shipping them this week. I'm so excited. It was "fish bowl" dye so, oranges and blues and whites and some dark navy or black (can't tell the last from the pic). I told her not to email me a pic because I want a surprise. She made a matching hat, TOO!

I'm going to be addicted to wool now. But I won't ever be able to learn because I have a loss of communication from my brain to my hands when it comes to creativity.

Oh cute!! I take it you are using them as a cover? Wool is supposed to be fantastic for that- I didn't use wool covers with my cloth diapers (maybe next time?) The colours sound great!!

Today I made two pairs of newborn mary-Jane's for a baby shower this weekend. Sweet and FAST, gotta love the fast ones!

Do you have a pattern for the mary-janes? I've been wanting to try some thing new and am looking for a good, easy pattern.

Leigh, those are adorable. As Tara knows, I had heretofore only knit things that are square. I may need a pointer or two for making these look right. I'll let y'all know!

Yey Karen!!! You should totally start them. We're here to answer questions. DO IT!!!

So, still haven't started seaming the little sweater together. Anyone love seaming that'll do it for me???
Honestly though I think there should be companies that specialize in finishing projects for people.

Tara - the knitting store here actually DOES finish items for customers. They do the seams and the neckband thingy. They'll knit entire items from start to finish as well...but I think alot of people take them up on the finishing stuff!

My mother would disown me for sure if I paid someone to finish this sweater. I don't think I could justify spending money on it either, I'm just lazy that's all.

What's the name of your LYS?

Tara - sorry, I didn't see your response until today!! I know what ya mean, I can't imagine paying to have someone finish (although I am contemplating paying for someone to machine quilt a blanket once i've piecedit - I hate the quilting part). Our store is called Knitting Time, it's in the Canadian Tire mall on the North side.

Great job making those booties!!!! I'd love to see 'em!

Well, I made a really sweet baby cape for my friend's new little one - bright red, very fun. I finished that up yesterday so, now I'm working on some baby legs for a couple we know who are having a baby girl in November.
