Curves Members?

Anyone here a member of Curves? (Obviously, this is geared towards the women! ) I just joined last week and I LOVE it.

Anyone else? Got some tips to share for toning? What's your favorite machine?

And WHY are my ARMS so WEAK? lol

LOL! No, but have been toying with it since it is right across from Rory's gymnastics (that she LIVES at.. haha). And by my house, too. And her grandma's. Ok it is everywhere.

I did curcuit the first time I was in college (it was in their gym) and loved it... so thought it might be similar.

Have procrastinated. So will be SOOO happy to hear what everyone thinks.

(I want those curves socks in the Avon catalog! With the Zipper! GENIOUS! I wish I invented those.. I need 10 pairs).

I joined almost 2 months ago and I love it also. At my one month weigh and measure I had lost 10 pounds & 9 inches from various body parts. I was really shocked that it worked, nothing that easy has ever worked before. As far as my favorite machine-probably the one that you sit on then can kick the heck out of the foot thingy, don't know what it is called, sorry!

I joined Curves last August and I love it also. Since then, I've lost 13 pounds and 10 inches!! It is the only thing that has ever really worked for me. I was not obese when I went into the program, but I was overweight, and my doctor is very pleased with the results (so am I)!

Oooh, Christine, you just missed the ability to join for free. It was their food drive and if you brought in a bag of groceries, they waived the $150 joining fee. That's why I got off my duff and joined.

I'm really enjoying the whole circuit thought process. I really feel like I get a thorough workout. I run on the cardio blocks... most of the time. By the end today I was really tired. And sweaty.

lol

I'm personally trying to lose my baby weight. I've got about twenty pounds to go. I also love the butt machine (the one you kick behind you).

I hate the arm machine where you pull it up in front of you.

Owwie.

Hmmm... the circuit at the college had an over head thing telling you when to change stations. And you go weights then cardio, weights then cardio... and each station was different.

Is it like that???

(Bleh. I always miss the freebees. )

I had no idea they charged $150 to join. Ouchie.

This is something I have toyed with for some time but my hesitation is that they do not allow children and have no childcare. There is a CURVES within a couple miles of my home and I think I would join if I didn't have the childcare obstacle.

CURVES + Childcare = P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N

*sigh* If only.

So I have a question about Curves -

I have one about 2 blocks from my hotel. There's another one back in Michigan near where we'll be moving. If I join the one here near my hotel, can I transfer my membership once we move? I really don't want to have to join twice, and I just can't see myself driving over 45 minutes several times a week - I'd end up not going.

Yes, but if you jogged the distance think of the great shape you would be in.

ROFL!!! My fat butt jogging up the interstate would probably result in siesmic activity. I've got about 100lbs to drop! I don't think I can jog down the hall, much less down the street. -grin-

However, I did promise myself that if I register at the Curves down the street, I'll walk there for my sessions instead of driving. So maybe in a few months, jogging won't seem like such an impossible idea!

Thanks for the info!!!

Yup Im a Curves gal and LOVE it. I joined in January and have lost 7 pounds and 7 inches. I know I could do better but have missed quite a few work outs. I love the atmosphere and how quickly I can get through the circuit. From home to Curves to back again I am only gone an hour. Perfect for dh to sit with M.

Curves (here) is 29/month (cheaper than some other gyms I've been a member of!).

You can also go to ANY Curves, which is why my Mom (!!) just joined so she could go at work or home. And I can go when I go home to visit her! BOTH of my grandmothers are also joining!!!!!!!

I feel good that I started something healthy with the women in my family.

Yes, Christine, they have a voice (louder than the ... ahem, kinda cheesy but way cool 80s lol ... music) that tells you when to move to the next station.

So what do you "get" for that $30 a month? Is it just the gym membership? Any help with food choices, etc.?
