I need a new coffee maker...
...ok...here's the thing.
I LOVE coffee...yes I do ![]() I love to buy awesome beans, grind them, and brew a cuppa that makes my house smell wonderful! Here's the problem - for the last few (7?)years, I've used the same maker - it's a cheap, Mr. Coffee, with one button and it makes 12 cups. It was easy to use, plus, when you poured, it didn't drip the stuff all over the counter (floor...shirt...whatever) and make a big mess. I paid like 12 bucks for it at Walmart. DH got me one of those new Stainless jobs a year or so ago...and while its pretty to look at, the coffee is drivel…pure drivel! First, it’s a ten cupper – and while that might be ok for everyone else – I use HUGE mugs (plus I have to share) and I really need a 12 cupper. Secondly, you have to unscrew the lid, poor the coffee (hopefully most of it makes it into the cup, but that’s really expecting a lot!) then screw the lid back on…PLUS it doesn’t have the “sneak a cup” feature…which, I’ve grown really accustom too! Ugh. I don’t want a stainless one – all I’ve seen are ten cups I don’t need a timer or any extra gadgets – but I want a good one and if a good one has all those gadgets, then so be it. I like the one button turn off turn on thing that my last maker had, because I could turn it on and it would stay on for a few hours…the new ones tend to turn off after two. I purchased one of the cheap, one button jobs from Walmart this past week and took it back today because you had to turn flips just to hold the carafe right to get the water in the little reservoir. I’m looking at the Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central and also the Starbucks Barista… Does anyone else have any suggestions?

DW would really love the Cuisinart that grinds your coffee beans and brews, but until our tax return its Mr. Coffee and Braun, the bean grinder.

We have a krups...like it a lot. Doesn't grind the beans for you but that's okay. Does turn off automatically and can be programmed. Otherwise it's just a 1 button deal, which is about all I can handle!

I like my Hamilton Brew Station. No pot so nothing burns on the bottom.

I second the brew station. And although it turns off after two hours, the coffee stays mellow for a lot longer because it's not in a traditional carafe. I also like that I can program it, grind beans and set it the night before. Coffee awaits me when I get up in the morning.
