OT: Lost discussion
This thread is for the support of all the Lost addicts out there. We can discus plot, characters, theories.... whatever we want regarding Lost.
I'll start, what did you all think of the monster being "smoke" and all the images inside the smoke? I can't wait for tomorrow's episode to see what happens to Aaron! |

I love it!
I absolutely LOVE the show Lost. It is the best. I read about all of the images that people saw inside the smoke, but I didn't see them when I was watching the show. I love Mr. Eko too. He is so mysterious.
Wasn't that only the second time that the smoke was shown in the show? I remember seeing it on one other episode in the background. We bought season 1 on DVD and savored every minute of it again. Can't wait for tonight's episode. It looks like it is action packed.....

Do you have TIVO? I use my TIVO and go frame by frame to catch some of this stuff. I cheat though and read about it on the internet on Thursday and then go looking for it.
I only remember seeing the smoke one other time too. I have season 1 on DVD and I think we are going to take it to Russia with us to watch all over again. Thanks for responding to the thread. There were so many on "the person below me thread" that loved Lost, I thought we could have a great OT thread for Lost! |

I don't have TIVO, so I just saw it the one time, but it totally reminded me of the water from "The Abyss"! I expected a face to form.
I'm soooooo addicted to this show!

Here is my theory - The island is purgatory (and I'm not catholic...) and the truly "evil" souls are the ones who can see the smoke and not be "taken" by it. Because Eko is evil - Saaid is evil (or was...) and they've both looked the "smoke" in the face and lived to tell the tale. That is why I think John is evil in some way - he has also confronted the smoke - he wanted to let it take him...and he lived.
I think the "good people" - the ones with no sin in their lives are the ones dying out...like the lady that drowned in season one...

Wow Kretzklan thats some thought! Perhaps you are a writer at heart. The show is excellent.
Are you aware that even the writers don't know where it's going. They write week by week and do not have the ending worked out. A friend of a friend knows "Sawyer". Now for my thoughts. I think it's a man made expeiriment. Some thing to do with survival techniques and twins. Each one I beleive has a twin. Yep, it's the governments fault!!!!

I like the show too, but I'm LOST as to what it all amounts to at this point.
Kretzklan and Heikewould, your theories make as much sense to me as anything else I've heard. I love the flashbacks when we get to learn more about the characters and I think Sawyer, Siyid and Echo are hotties. Bad boys often are. ![]() Did anyone hear that they are stalling the whole reappearance of Walt because like most young kids he's grown so noticeably(and his face has changed) over the couple of years they've been shooting. Island time has only been what? 40-50 days or so? They aren't sure how to explain his obvious aging with the plot of the show. Anyway, that's what my friend told me she heard somewhere. Not sure if it's true or not. Walt was on a fairly recent episode of Law & Order and he did look older. It happens Kelli

Karen, Karen, Karen! I cannot believe you don't TIVO. It will change your life (at least as far as television is concerned).
Every year, I decide I watch too much television so I swear I am not going to start watching anything new (TIVO has about 20 hours of programming for me at the moment that needs to be viewed). Well, all that happens is that about half way through the season, someone convinces me that my life is not complete because I don't watch XX show. So I feel compelled to watch. Usually, I wait until they start showing the reruns so I can sort of start at the beginning. Alias, Lost and 24 all fall into that category and they are among my favorite, must-see shows. I must admit that I totally missed the faces in the smoke. If it makes an appearance tonight, I will have to do as Momto4Boys suggests and go frame by frame. I find it truly amazing if the writers do only write week to week because of the way things from several episodes ago (or last season) end up linking to something else. Like when they were telling the story of Jin and Sun, and in the background you could see the television coverage of Hurley winning the lottery. Someone told me that their names all meant something -- or represented some literary person. Anyone else hear that and want to comment on their opinions about who each one represents. Did we ever find out how Locke ended up in a wheel chair? |

Wow, I love the theory about Walt not being there because he is growing quicker than the 50 days they have been on the island. On that thought....
Did anyone else find it odd that "Zeke", as Sawyer called him, didn't know how long they had been on the island. How do you miss an airplane breaking in half and crashing on your island?? Wouldn't the others know how long they had been there? Especially since they kidnapped some of the Tailles the first night. |

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I think Jin is a hottie too! Yet another bad boy. I'm also curious about how Locke ended up in a wheelchair but I don't think they've shared that piece yet.

Any thoughts on the episode last night?
I can't say it was one of my favorite. Maybe it is just a lead up to new story lines. Hurley seemed to know Libby from somewhere. I wonder where that is going to lead. |

OK, had to jump in...
LOST is the favorite show in our house, and actually, the only thing that we have watched on TV since we returned from Christmas vacation. (I am trying to finish my thesis, and dh has become addicted to World of Warcraft, an internet computer game).
Anyway, my original theory also was that they were in Purgatory, but I read an interview with some of the writers who discounted some popular theories, and that was one of them. I, too, now think it is an "experiment," although I don't know how the Others fit in with that (except that maybe you aren't really supposed to experiment on children?). But then, I don't see how in an experiment, so many people could have crossed paths beforehand. Of course, I had this OTHER idea that Walt was some sort of evil or psychic person, like the boy from Twilight Zone that could wish people into the cornfield? And when Claire was still pregnant, I thought it seemed like the baby was going to be this evil force, or something. I, too, am anxious to know about Locke's injury -- and also, how is he walking around, still? Unless he had some unexplained psychosomatic paralysis? Locke also seems (and always has) especially interested in Claire -- very fatherly -- do you think something will come out that they are somehow related? (Locke's biodad seemed the type that would have done some jet-setting and hunting in Australia). D.
