Exclamation Help for Volfe - devastated by Katrina...

If so, one of our forum members needs your help!

Maia (Volfe) was displaced by the Katrina on Sunday and has returned to her second home (her boyfriends residence) to find nothing left…News reports are saying she may not be able to get back to her home, in New Orleans, for up to FOUR MONTHS.

Maia and her family need your help! A number of forum members have pledged to send much needed items to Maia, but due to the damage in the area, delivery service is unavailable.

We’re looking for someone who would be willing to “receive” these items on Maia’s behalf and possibly meet her half way (from your location to hers, in Biloxi) to pass them to her…or if willing, take them to her in Biloxi.

Items include bedding, toiletries, clothes and other basic necessities.

Thank you for taking the time to read!

I do have someone that is going to make the trip for us. She will drive over NEXT WEEKEND - so items need to reach her NLT Friday of next week.

If you want to send something, PM me for the address

Just got another update on the situation - they may be required to evacuate...if thats the case, taking packages might not be an option.

Please hold off on sending items needed until I get more information.

Maia's mom is driving to Montgomery tomorrow and will either drive to Biloxi (where Maia is) or meet Maia half way to pick up the girls (Maia's daughters) and take them back to MD.

Once in MD. they are going to fly to New Mexico, where they will be staying with another friend.

I haven't talked to Maia today (which worries me) so there is no info on her going or staying, I will update more as I know

Brandy,

Picked this up from an e-mail. May help some of those affected?

Please let us know what we can do to help...I think many people would be willing to help someone they 'know.'

Also, a fund has been set up through Paypal to accept donations for Maia and the girls.

Use your Paypal account to send donations in any amount to:

Friends_Of_Maia@hotmail.com

I used the "Quasi-cash" option which just sends cash. Check with your bank if you have questions about fees from them, but Paypal is free.

The fund was set up and is being managed by forum member Plareb, with assistance from our own moderator Brandy. All funds go directly to Maia and the girls, of course.

If you have any questions on donations, the fund, or Paypal, I'm happy to help if I can; just PM me. I'm sure Brandy and Plareb will also be happy to assist!

I just want to clarify in the spirit of total accounting transparity. It is true that all collected funds go to Maia and her girls, but paypal does take a small cut of the transfer (2-3% depending on the amount). I think the ease of it is worth it, but if anyone wants to avoid that and electronically transfer to my bank account, let me know.
